Starring: Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quaid, Natasha Richardson, Elaine Hendrix, Lisa Ann Walter
Directed by: Nancy Meyers
I remember seeing this film back when it first came out in 1998. Of course, I was still a kid back then, so this film is different as an adult. It’s sad to see Lindsay Lohan now, because she was so adorable as a kid. Also, Natasha Richardson is heartbreakingly beautiful, and its sad to think that she’s no longer with us.
As an adult, I notice that the camera trickery they use to show Lohan next to herself isn’t always perfect. Sometimes Lohan isn’t quite looking at herself, she’s looking off to the side. The movie works best when they’re not in the same frame.
For a Disney movie, it’s one that parents can enjoy with their kids. And considering the film is 16 years old, it has held up surprisingly well.
Lohan really was a good, young talent. Something in Hollywood screwed her up. The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, and Mean Girls… and then she just fell apart.
It’s not a perfect film, but I like it.
