Where I Watched It: Paramount Plus
English Audio Description?: No
This feels very 2023. It’s basically a movie about a young girl who takes revenge on a domestic terrorist group that has a name that sounds very similar to those boys that were once proud. It’s also very much one of those John Wick style films where someone has been wronged, and they screwed with the wrong dog. AND it’s “a very particular set of skills film” as she uses her skills she accumulated from a long time of being…in the Girl Scouts…
This film is totally up my alley. It just doesn’t have audio description. It’s a super violent film, and the violence isn’t described. As Becky (Lulu Wilson) goes up against the head of a mini-militia (Seann William Scott), there really isn’t a shortage of things that can happen to these guys. No one is rooting for them. They did a very bad thing at the top of the film, and this girl is seeking revenge. We want to watch these guys explode one by one, but without the audio description, it’s just a film I probably would have loved a lot better than I did.
Scott is surprisingly effective as a bad guy, and although I’m not familiar with Wilson, I am now. I would definitely recommend this title to anyone looking for an action comedy with some spunk to it, if they could find an audio described version of it. And for the sighted crowd, I think it might be an underrated gem.
But, sadly, for purposes of how i grade films, the lack of audio description on a title of this genre, with this level of violence, means this film is…
FINAL GRADE: Unwatchable
