Where I Watched it: Peacock
English Audio Description?: No
Peacock knew exactly what totally random title to suggest to me in that moment, and that moment was ripe for Double Dragon. no, it doesn’t have audio description. Yes, it should. Will anyone care? No.
Double Dragon is a pretty notoriously awful film adaptation from the 90’s, which features mark Dascascos and Scott Wolf (one of them can actuallly fight, the other is pretty), who get roped up in the attempt to bring an actual plot and story to the old school Nintendo game. This was still from the period where we had no idea what to do with video game movies, and shat out a Mario movie, this, and Street Fighter. Arguably, the trend improved with Mortal Kombat, but went right back down with its sequel.
There’s not much to know here except I had fun watching a bad film. it’s so cheesy, so poorly written, in some ways I forgive it for not having audio description. If I was making a priority list of titles receiving audio description, I’m not sure this would be in the top 10,000. but we should all have accesss to bad flicks, as sometimes a really good bad flick hits the spot just like a fantastic film can.
If Double Dragon ever gets audio description, watch it. not because it’s good, but because it’s hilariously and awesomely bad. But, without audio description, it’s grade is obviously…
Final Grade: Unwatchable
