The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/14/23

My weird personal life, the one that actually pays, shifted time for me. I was incredibly active yesterday, eating into the time I spend on this post the following day. So, this is a SPEED ROUND version. But I can’t do the Roundup without acknowledging that the rumor is true, and fans of Young Sheldon who noticed where the story was in the timeline have pointed out, it’s time for the show to end after this upcoming Season 7.

It’s easier to admit the order in which I watched these programs, instead of trying to figure out the 1-10 for SPEED ROUND. So, in order of how I watched them.

1) All The Light We Cannot See (Netflix)

Audio Description?: Yes

We finally got more Hugh Laurie. And an explanation of what Ruffalo is trying to do with that accent.

Episode Grade: B+

2) Doom Patrol (MAX)

Audio Description?: Yes

The Doom Patrol (referred to by name this episode), is dealing with what Immortus might be, and I’m going to miss the hell out of Brendan Fraser on this show when this is done. I love all the characters, but I think his role here really helped him regain those fans that helped him get his Oscar. This is one of his best roles.

Episode Grade: A-

3) The Changeling (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

We go back in time and the story continues to get weirder. I’m not even sure what this show wants from me anymore as a viewer, but I’m really hoping it all ties together in the finale. Thank God this is a limited.

Episode Grade: B

4) Star Trek: Lower Decks (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Some of the crew go off on various missions involving robots/AI. Shoutout to the ever talented Jack McBrayer, who was one of them, and was great.

episode Grade: B

5) Krapopolis (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

The very beginning and end were fun, as were casual references to someone pitching the idea of paper. I’m not sure if it helps or hurts that Matt Barry’s voice is so recognizable.

Episode Grade: B-

6) Fleabag (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Fleabag realizes she has a crush on hot Priest, and cashes in that therapy session. Her sister’s tool of a boyfriend causes some trouble.

Episode Grade: A

7) Alias (Disney Plus)

English Audio Description?: No

In the middle of SD-6 searching for a mole, Sydney has to try and extract information, but also needs to extract herself. Her dad is suspicious of what might be going on, and stops Vaughn from sending people in to rescue her. This show still has too many scenes that you need audio description for in order for me to grade it, even though this is a rewatch for me.

Final Grade: Unwatchable

8) The Critic (Tubi)

English Audio Description?: No

I’m so happy this is out there. Seriously, please watch this. The references are so good. There’s a boys In The hood joke that is dated, but also hilarious.

Episode Grade: B+

9) 911 (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

An episode basically dedicated to really REALLy fleshing out Buck’s backstory, and to some extent Maddie’s, which feels weird since this is Season 4 and he’s an original cast member.

Episode Grade: B+

10) Seaquest DSV (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: No

The Seaquest is split, you can blame the rescue mission, the hurricane, or the Bermuda Triangle, but Darwin comes in clutch to make sure we predictably don’t lose any cast members.

Episode Grade: B (though it would be fun for someone to try and describe some of the visual effects that have not held up over time).
