I’m worried about a Paramount Plus purge as they started with purging content on their international versions, and now are purging international content from Paramount Plus. The list was a bunch of shows that never even aggregated into any of my feeds, unlike Netflix which constantly throws international content at you. So if it was underperforming, maybe Paramount Plus should advertise that they actually are making shows internationally?
Speaking of, I did check out Sexy Beast (Paramount Plus) officially and while the ending was solid, it does take a while to warm up. It’s definitely a mature show, and I’m not sure it really resembles what I remember from the movie. This is a large ensemble, which is not what I remember from the film. It did make it a little hard to warm up to characters, so it’s not the strongest pilot, but I didn’t have any problems following the audio description. I’m glad I just sat down and watched it uninterrupted.
My Life With The Walter Boys (Netflix) continues to complicate lives, while reminding you that there’s probably a Walter Boy not getting enough screen time. No offense to Team Cole, but I could do with less of him until I remember characters like Danny and Isaac exist.
Ted (Peacock) just doesn’t have great audio description. Often it misses sight gag jokes. Most of Seth Macfarlane’s jokes are funny and in his typical wheelhouse. The Everything I Do joke was solid, and non-offensive.
Death and Other Details (Hulu) is shockingly keeping my interest through Mandy Patinkin’s performance. I really don’t care about the mystery. There was a point where one of the characters asks another why they don’t just dock and let police come in and investigate, and the other guy scoffs and says he’s doing everything he needs to because he has the world’s best detective on board. that’s the kind of mystery we are dealing with here, and an example of how dumb the other characters are. Patinkin is great.
I also finished The Crown (Netflix), which chose an interesting place to finish. No William and Kate wedding, Megan is nowhere, William and Harry never have kids, the Queen never met with Obama or Trump. No Covid. But, it was a nice final episode. I did laugh when the Queen takes William and Harry aside to talk about their dad marrying Camilla, and only gets Williams blessing, only cares what William thinks, and never asks Harry. For people who think he’s just a screw up, think of how many times stuff like that probably really did happen to him. Like some dystopian novel where he exists only to provide extra organs should his brother need them.
in the world of classic TV, I did watch Veep (MAX) and Silicon Valley (MAX), both have audio description.
