I have started to do this thing where I only mention a new show I’m watching that doesn’t have AD once, either as a series or season premiere. I’m still sad that The Masked Singer (Hulu) doesn’t have audio description on the streamer. I know it has had audio description live before, and it’s sad that description goes nowhere. Also, Rita replacing Nicole is fine. Nicole is working on making her Broadway dreams happen with Sunset boulevard. And, Kevin Hart is an awful singer. But, a good sport. He’s a great first elimination, since this is Season 11, and the question with this show is always “are they still getting recognizable talent?” No question that Kevin Hart is a huge get for them. If this was Dancing With The Stars, he probably would win on name recognition alone. At least to the finals.
Also, I knocked out another Halo (Paramount Plus), which raised the bar so high in Episode 4, that we needed the breather in Episode 5. Lots of character development as those who survived the events of the 4th episode deal with the ramifications and loss. This show does have great AD. I love the description of the mandibles in this episode. It’s a small detail, but so helpful to the continued world building.
Life And Beth (Hulu) had Beth take John to find out if he is on the spectrum. It’s a weird episode, as Beth seems to react to this in such an emotional way. I’ve always thought these two were odd together, and he clearly is on the spectrum. I thought their pairing was so off, I didn’t realize until this episode that no one knew he had ASD. This is such a weird show sometimes.
Choir (Disney Plus) is already what it is in terms of audio description, so I can’t expect it to start doing more description late in the game. As someone who has had to deal with this on both sides, sitting in choir, and also directing, this episode was on point.
And I also watched an episode of Veep (MAX) which has audio description, as I make my way through that show for the first time. I’m at the beginning of Season 4.
