The Small Screen Diaries- 05/30/24

Well, yesterday was a really big day guys. Historic, if you will. May 30th, 2024, will forever be remembered in the history books. MAX went ahead and picked up hacks for a fourth season. That’s right, just as the final episode of the season was dropping, they confirmed… MORE Hacks. I mean, is that not the biggest news of the day or what? Did you think I was going to talk about something else? Well, if certain things want to be discussed, then perhaps they should happen on channels that don’t apply to the FCC for audio description waivers so they don’t have to provide audio description. Cause, that’s what I’m about.

I’ve been finishing shows every day so far, and today was the first day in a while where nothing was finished. Dead boy Detectives (Netflix)is close now, since I just finished the 7th episode. That hell was so weird. Props to the audio description team specifically for their work on Episode 7, which really used their imagination and the team did such a good job of getting all the nastiness of hell in there, plus all the stuff going on with Crystal.

Trying (Apple Plus) had a quirky and cute second episode, where Bev had an online date set up, and our leads decided to go on it to tell the guy in person that his date had passed away. Meanwhile, princess tried contacting everyone locally with her mom’s name, and none of them are her mom. So she’s back to square one. this would be on my Emmy Dream list, but I don’t think anyone watches this show.

Evil (Paramount Plus) jumped into evil robot dogs, and I didn’t realize we had robot dogs this evolved out there. Is there anything this close? That’s freaky. Meanwhile, Andy is slowly losing his mind. But, his daughters are going to help him stay sane.

I watched another episode of the Good Times (Netflix) reboot, which had some social commentary to offer in terms of the mom stopping gang violence for just one day, but who is it speaking to? Like, basically she loses in the end because society needs gang violence in order to function, so did anyone get wiser after watching this? I wish this show was more of that kind of commentary and more like The boondocks. Instead, it is trying really hard to be subversive adult animation just like every other adult animated show out there.

And finally, I got back into Feud (Hulu), which I think I only had two episodes left. This one said goodbye to Babe. It reminded me of how much I miss Treat Williams, and Everwood, and then I watched an episode of Everwood, which doesn’t have audio description. But, such is life.

Say Something!
