I was told I should really check out this anime series Blood Of Zeus (Netflix), so I did. The show is OK, but the audio description is strong. the show is fairly violent, and I felt like the description captured the blood and gore rather well. But there was also a fight scene where one of the main characters was protecting his mom from being poked with a hot poker, and I couldn’t tell if her son defending her was killing his foes or just knocking them all out or something. But, it’s a violent and gory show that embraces what it is, so I can see why it has fans. I’ll give it another episode.
The Big Door prize (Apple Plus) continued to push its characters further, but surprisingly the stoic Izzy got the biggest moment of the week, as she opened up about her past to her new paramour, and we see what her level up was from the machine. She had a touching moment, which is hard for her character. I enjoy the audio description for this show. I think every episode has been really well done.
I enjoyed the second episode of Pretty Little Liars: Summer School (MAX) more than the season premiere, as this really focused more on plot and character development. I 100% called who was going to die that episode. ONE. HUNDRED. PERCENT. I have rarely been that proud of myself. But, a much better episode that gave me vibes of the second season of Scream.
I’m deep enough into Them (Amazon) this season that I can say Season 1 is better. Now, I havent’ reached the ending, so I don’t know if it will still be more shocking, though the first season’s 7th episode is hard to beat. But Season 1 allowed strong performances from its lead cast that this show just doesn’t allow for. It’s got a totally different vibe. not a bad one, but Season 1 just raised the bar. I see what it’s doing, I just preferred Season 1.
Under The Bridge (Hulu) is trying some emotionally manipulative stuff here in the 7th episode. It focused primarily on the guy, because everyone wants it to be this guy and it’s easier to believe that the psycho Kelly wasn’t the violent one. I think that’s the. Takeaway here, is that he’s guilty… but not the reason the girl is dead. I really love Riley Keogh, but I wouldn’t nominate her for this. I think Reina’s parents should get the nominations.
Good Times (Netflix) turned leap day into black love day, and that pretty much sums up that plot. I think about the writing that went into the original show in its day, and I still, every time I mention this show, do not see the correlation between that and having a show where the wife watches a cockroach trying to seduce another cockroach. Like, this is just another adult animation. It’s not even as smart as the Boondocks.
In terms of older shows I watched that had audio description, the only one I can mention today is Game Of Thrones, which I’m doing a rewatch of, and currently sit in Season 5. The audio description is much appreciated.
