Movies: Bride Of Chucky (Netflix) with audio description
I was kind of not really focused on making sure I had something substantial to write about, as I was trying to hear a myriad of different people talking about the debate. I’ve already mentioned this before, in the episode where they tackled the Honeymoon, but Solar Opposites is one of my favorite shows on right now, and I would say if I’m doing a Top 10 list from this year in terms of audio description excellence, Solar Opposites would make the cut. Five seasons in and Dave Wallace feels like an integral part to the show. not just like a typical narrator, but actually at this point if this show were to change audio description narrators, it would negatively affect the show. He finds all the right beats, the right pauses, and just the perfect way to approach every single utterly bizarre joke in this show. I’ve mentioned before that the show’s producers are aware of audio description, and have directly used him during the credits. I want to say season 2 or 3, before Dan Steven’s took over, there was a neat little thing at the end of the episode. I have a feeling the producers behind Solar Opposites aren’t just passively aware of what audio description is, but actually listen to their show with it to make sure it all is put together. it feels like the possibilities of what could be for so many other shows. I don’t need another link, so I’m not looking for a share again, and another debate about performative audio description, but on a slow news day where I only watched two shows, this gets another mention.
