Yes. this has audio description. I watched a movie just because it had audio description. I figured, someone out there might want to watch this, and maybe I can give them my thoughts. there are two sides to this coin. I believe in audio description for all. I may not like the same things as you, but you deserve accessibility. An easy case would be that I’m not a parent, nor am I a toddler, but parents with blind kids deserve access to age appropriate programming. So, regardless of how I feel about this, it does have existing audio description.
It’s also really just not a good film. I didn’t really think it would be, since they were asking me to accept David Arquette and Kevin Connelly in a mafia movie. this is based on a true story about a NYPD officer that drops a bombshell book about his and others involvements with the mob, blowing open the door to corruption. There’s also a bit about a mother trying to get closure on what happened to her son, and lots of interviews that lead to flashbacks.
Arquette and Connelly stand out like sore thumbs, while it seems the producers at least found an ensemble of actors who sound like they could have been in the mob to do the supporting performances. It’s not so bad that I’m angry at the film, it just also isn’t good, or near any level of quality to recommend. the audio description is sufficient, which is really all this deserves. Just get from beginning to end as quickly as possible.
other critics would tell you to go watch a better mafia movie, and then just have the freedom to list a lot of titles from Goodfellas to Casino, but the reality is, not every film has audio description. I can’t just casually throw you out into the wild to find a good mob movie. So, instead, I know The Sopranos has audio description on MAX, and even just rewatching the pilot would be more enjoyable than Mob Cops.
