The Marvels box office is not just reflective of Marvel fatigue, but also the impact of the strike. Two of the films lead characters are being played by rising stars from Disney plus shows, and were unable to promote the film. Disney should have pushed this back, and now they have their lowest opening ever. 9) Name That Tune (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown honestly, just the most underwhelming episode. Jeff Ross knew all the songs until he got to the final, and then Tig knew all the songs, yet somehow Nicole ended up in the finale. Baffling. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/10/23

A couple of things. It’s like these companies were waiting for the strike to end to start their bad behavior. Immediately following news of the strike ending, Warner Bros celebrated by totally and permanently shelving Coyote Vs Acme, another finished feature project, and using it as a tax write-off. So, once again, a ton of artists worked on a film for months, just so it can live forever in a closet. Meanwhile, ABC should have already known the fates of The Rookie Feds and The Good Lawyer, because as soon as the strike was over, ABC cancelled The Rookie Feds, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/09/23

The SAG strike is over, and within minutes actors were being notified of projected start dates for filming so that shows can air some episodes in the spring. Many shows aren’t looking at being able to do more than 10, though some are hoping for 13.Most new shows are being shifted to next season, so don’t expect to see a lot of unfamiliar far. I do wonder how shows with visual effects will pan out, like the already shortened third (and rumored final) season of Labrea. Movies are also set to resume filming, with Venom 3 even looking at having … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/08/23

11) Seaquest DSV (Peacock) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I think I’ve given a few episodes a pass, as it is a bit easier being on a rewatch. but this episode focused quite a bit on a ghost ship, a diary, and possession? I’ll admit, when you throw ghosts and what I can assume was possession in the mix, it goes a little past being easy to just follow along. Episode Grade: unwatchable 10) 911 (Hulu) English Audio Description?: no Status: Moving To ABC Athena is on the hunt for who killed a neighbor that everyone hated, while her … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/07/23 Dancing last night. While it does seem like SAG is taking this latest offer seriously, they do have some things to iron out, and they’re planning another meeting. Meanwhile, it took until November for Hulu to renew The Bear. Why? Are they that hard up? The series is projected to win Emmy’s this year for the streamer. They literally can’t afford to lose the show, not with Handmaid’s Tale going into its final season. Their only other prestige show would be Only Murders In The Building. 10) How To Become A Cult Leader (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited In the fifth … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/06/23

Did you remember, remember the 5th of November? Maybe? No? Well, lawmen launched yesterday on Paramount Plus, becoming the 3rd technical spinoff from Yellowstone, and another notch on Taylor Sheridan’s belt. 4) Shining Veil (Starz) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I did try and make it through season 1, and it was a challenge. This is like a horror comedy, and there are a lot of elements you miss. But the performances from Courtney Cox and Greg Kinnear are just so damn good. I miss most of the references, but sometimes they just launch into a tirade, or the … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/05/23

So, we are back to the studios saying they have submitted their “last, best, and final offer” to SAG. Just the fact that the studios are saying that makes me question its validity. Just saying. 5) Dreaming Whilst Black (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet renewed i didn’t even know there was a pregnant character on the show. This whole thing was about a birth. And I was so surprised by it. Well, I suppose the studios weren’t ready to accept SAG’s proposal, so they sent back a counter. Honestly, these companies needing to win this AI battle is pissing me off. Stop trying to own a person’s likeness, especially without informed consent, and certainly not in perpetuity. Also, the new trailer for Echo dropped, and it’s going to be TV-MA. 9) The Gold (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited? in what should have been a movie, we slowly build to the police making their case and being able to arrest people for the heist. Nothing too big in the TV world. The CW confirmed what we already assumed, that this is the final season of The CW… I mean… Superman and Lois. It marks the final show to be cancelled in the once dominant DC Arrowverse that started with the Stephen Amell led series, and birthed spinoffs The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Superman and Lois, and arguably also Stargirl and Swamp Thing, though those were originally created for DC’s streaming service. The new CW seems less interested in making their own programming, and instead repurposing Canadian, British, and Australian shows. 9) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/02/23

The fact that I’m hearing that the SAG AMPTA negotiations are being held up over AI really tells me all I need to know about the studios positions. I do hope SAG does not waiver on their counter to many of the terrible ideas these studios were proposing, including owning an actors likeness in perpetuity, simply because they showed up as an extra for one day. People say that AI is the future, and there’s nothing we can do to stop it. If we don’t regulate it now, that same person is going to have their face regenerated into a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/01/23

It’s the day after Halloween. I had such a weird experience, where years of declining trick or treaters apparently led to a group trying to reclaim the night, and hundreds of people were out. No one could possibly have prepared that much candy. What was your Halloween experience? 13) Alias (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended This show has LONG scenes just set to music where action is happening, and no dialogue, which makes it really hard to follow, even for someone who has seen this show before. May your trick or treat bag be full of the good stuff. What horror movie or TV show do you have lined up today? 9) Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Well, at least Zipper wasn’t in charge of everything this time, and I could follow this episode. it’s always so refreshing to hear the theme song. First off, I want to give a big shoutout to Scott Blanks, another movie lover and audio description advocate who just dropped his first review on my site for Birth/Rebirth. Make sure to check that out. 9) Billy The Kid (MGM Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Season 2 Just Started I wanted to start this show and give it a shot, but sadly, this story based on the titular outlaw is really hard to follow without audio description. I wish I could toss out this list and fill it with all of the amazing performances of Matthew Perry that I managed to watch yesterday. Perry was such a tremendous talent, who landed too many one-and-done shows that truly deserved a second season. The best example has to be Studio 60 on The Sunset Strip, where Perry had the option to work with Aaron Sorkin as a series regular. If you have the option to watch that, please do. Also, his short-lived, but equally worthwhile Go on is available on the Roku channel. And now for a bunch of … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/28/30

The writers struck for minimums in writers rooms, and I guess The CW’s All American Homecoming and Superman and Lois had rooms above the new increased minimum, so they are firing some to reduce costs and shrinking the writers rooms. Let’s be honest, The CW is on life support in its current state. 9) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I gotta give Raylon’s dad props.
