Pet Sematary: Bloodline

Where I Watched it: Paramount Plus English Audio Description?: Yes All of this Pet Sematary build up has led to this moment. The moment when Paramount wisely chose not to send this prequel to theatres, and instead dump it on their streaming service. I have poked fun at previous iterations, but Bloodline is truthfully the worst in the series. It does have some talented cast members pop up, sadly not in the leading roles, and is somewhat based on the lore created by the stories Judd tells in both Pet Sematary films. It is just really dull. That’s not to … Continue reading Pet Sematary: Bloodline

The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/26/23

I do believe as I’m writing this, that the Maine mass shooter is still at large. A tremendous tragedy we seem unable and unwilling to stop, or even attempt to reduce the possibility of recurrence. Yesterday, Paramount Plus did cancel two shows, Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction, neither surprised me. 9) SeaQuest DSV (Peacock) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I tend to normally give this show a grade. Conceptually, I understand it from watching it as a kid. But this episode, which involved rescuing people from a crashed spaceship that had a virus on it that was killing people, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/26/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/25/23

Woke up this morning to another mass shooting tragedy. No TV news of any significance, so my heart goes out to the families of so far 22 dead and dozens more injured. Today’s Roundup will be a bit different, as I hope we take this time to reflect, on how we can stop this from happening again and again. The Shows I Watched yesterday: The Fall Of The House Of Usher (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Episode Grade: B+ Wilderness (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Episode Grade: A- Archer (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Episode Grade: A Star Trek Lower … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/25/23

I was just thinking to myself the other day, when the hell is the second season of Julia coming out? It can’t be that hard of a show to shoot. Then, MAX sent me a push notification like it can read my brain, and let me know that Julia returns in November. Sarah Lancashire is brilliant, so start catching up if you’ve never seen it. 10) Praise Petey (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown What actually was this about? I remember there was a guy from New York, and he used to be a part of the cult but … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/24/23

Well, that was a lot faster the next time around. Amazon has picked up Good Omens for a third season, so hopefully the wait between Season 2 and 3 will be much less. 8) Krapopolis (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I still wish this show had audio description, but this silly plot about dead goats was funny enough. I didn’t realize until this episode that Matt Barry was voicing a monster, because all i hear is Lazlo. Episode Grade: B 7) Heartstopper (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed? Some of the side characters had some plots, like … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/23/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/22/23

Finally, a day with some television to discuss. Although, I feel like my bottom pick is controversial. 11) Saturday Night Live (Peacock) English Audio Description?: No Status: It’s in Season 49, Do You Really Think It Won’t Hit 50? I know he has fans. I know he’s not really from my generation. He actually was fine in Cassandro. But, I didn’t think Bad Bunny was funny. I could talk about the blindness issue of SNL not having audio description, and me using my Spanish skills from my still unfinished DuoLingo course to follow the Espanol segments, but even when Bunny … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/22/23

Pet Sematary (2019)

Where I Watched It: Paramount Plus English Audio Description?: Yes It’s not that 80’s horror is bad, but more like some directors actually learn from what came before. Case in point would be the Pet Sematary remake, which avoids a lot of the mistakes Mary lambert made when she directed the original film. It’s clear that even though this movie makes a few very different changes, it still is tied down to the same tired King bullshit that still never belonged in this franchise. Yes, we have a doctor moving to town (Jason Clarke), and he lives too close to … Continue reading Pet Sematary (2019)

Pet Sematary 2 (1992)

Where I Watched It: MAX English Audio Description?: Yes Guess who’s back? Back again. Mary Lambert is back. Kill your pets. Granted, in 1989, Rotten Tomatoes, Letterboxed, and IMDB didn’t exist. There was no real way for you to find out what your critics thought about a movie except what film studios used in their ads, or to read a newspaper or magazine. Aggregating would be next to impossible to do, but still, the studio kept Lambert on for the sequel. They did jettison Stephen King, because he never wrote a book called Pet Sematary 2. So, the same people … Continue reading Pet Sematary 2 (1992)

Pet Sematary (1989)

Where I Watched It: MAX English Audio Description?: Yes As we all know, every Stephen king book-to-film adaptation has been truly flawless. All are classics. Ride The bullet is probably the best of them all. This was my first time watching Pet Sematary in its totality, though I feel like I definitely did the thing we do as kids when the cable edit of a film like this shows up, and we watch a few minutes of something so we can say we saw it. Fake bravery. Honestly? It’s not really that scary, unless you are afraid of poor directorial … Continue reading Pet Sematary (1989)

The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/21/23

I almost finished a fifth show, but it will have to wait until tomorrow, so another short list for you this day. Also, Fran Drescher wrote a guest column for Deadline.com that is worth a read if you’re interested in hearing from the horses mouth about the Actor’s strike. She’s actually not exaggerating when she says their profession is at risk. The proposed AI rules from the studios, allowing them to scan and own the likeness of talent in perpetuity, could have eliminated most of SAG within just a few years. It’s sad to know that 84% of SAG makes … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/21/23

Hellfest

Where I Watched it: Tubi English Audio Description?: Yes Narrated By: William Michael Redmond Around these here parts, we have plenty of these events like the one at the center of Hellfest. Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights brings people in droves. So, I kind of used that as a measuring tool for how this film is set up. The movie opens with our random opening kill. Someone has to die, and it might as well be a poorly developed character. So now we know there is a killer, so we can learn more about our core cast, right? Not so much. … Continue reading Hellfest

The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/20/23

I’m not sure anything major happened in the realm of television yesterday, but I will mention that MAX is rushing The Nun 2 onto the service before Halloween. I was pretty busy, so it’s a short list today. 5) 5) Shelter (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed These shows where adults unleash massive conspiracies where teens have to uncover and save the day is just a very odd thing we do in film and television. This show is a lot for these kids. I honestly found more enjoyment in the Phantom auditions, although I call shenanigans. The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/20/23

Heist 88

Where I Watched it: Paramount Plus English Audio Description?: Yes Courtney B Vance, who never seems to get to top line anything, stars in this Showtime original movie inspired by a real bank heist that involved no storming the vault with guns. They just did this at a time long before computer programs and algorithms ran everything, and hijacked some bank transfers. it’s designed to be sleek like Ocean’s Eleven, and perhaps under different circumstances, it might have been. But, there are choices made that keep heist 88 from being an underrated gem. We learn a bit too much up … Continue reading Heist 88

The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/19/23

Yesterday was a mother of a whirlwind. First, i did my happy dance when i saw that Amazon officially renewed Gen-V for a second season. Then, our world crashed down, as the absolutely brilliant The Problem With jon Stewart was cancelled at Apple Plus over “creative differences”. What? Maybe I should cancel Apple Plus and tel them it’s over creative differences. “I’ve decided to go another way.” Someone else had better pick up Jon Stewart ASAP. 8) 8) Dreaming Whilst Black (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown In the second episode, the laughs come mostly from culturally significant … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/19/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/18/23

If you watch TV live on an actual Network, heads up that President Biden is addressing the nation tonight, which will bump your shows back a bit. Adjust any recording DVR plans accordingly. 7) Name That Tune (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown Hanson, jojo, Steve-O, and Rachael Harris all popped up this time around. jojo was pretty fierce, but struggled with any song made before she was born. Steve-O’s voice sounds awful, but apparently it’s just him ruining it from talking from the wrong place in his body all these years. He’s also really bad at this game. Episode … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/18/23
