Yesterday was a mother of a whirlwind. First, i did my happy dance when i saw that Amazon officially renewed Gen-V for a second season. Then, our world crashed down, as the absolutely brilliant The Problem With jon Stewart was cancelled at Apple Plus over “creative differences”. What? Maybe I should cancel Apple Plus and tel them it’s over creative differences. “I’ve decided to go another way.” Someone else had better pick up Jon Stewart ASAP. 8) 8) Dreaming Whilst Black (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown In the second episode, the laughs come mostly from culturally significant … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/19/23

Dancing With The Stars certainly took the magic of Disney night to max corporate synergy. Meanwhile, some top Hollywood talent are meeting with the SAG negotiations to see what’s up. Oh, I don’t know… the studios don’t want to negotiate? 12) World On Fire (PBS) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I assumed this was a limited series the first time around, but PBS brought it back apparently without Helen hunt, and far more conversations not in English. This is a war drama with a lot of subtitles I can’t read, so much like AMC Plus’s Daryl Dixon, it is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/17/23

Disney Plus is developing Gargoyles into a live action series. So, if you were a fan of Gargoyles in the 90’s, this was the best or worst news you heard all day. 7) Krapopolis (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I will concede that this episode was the funniest so far, with a lot of random jokes strung together nonsensically. We had a tribute to Prometheus, the rite of passage to go beat up your deadbeat Cyclops father, and a joke about giving squirrels the wheel instead of humans. I have no idea what this show wants to be … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/16/23

Best Buy announced they will no longer be selling physical media after this holiday season. That breaks my heart. I have a massive physical media collection of DVD’s and BluRay’s, and before losing my vision, I used to love to hit up Best Buy on Black Friday, run in and grab a ton of new entries to my collection for cheap. Now, I’m all worried about whether or not something has audio description, which shockingly not every disc does. 12) Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended It’s not down here because of quality, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/14/23

Friday The 13th was a very unlucky day for one show. Apple pulled the plug on The After Party after two seasons. I’m not really sure why. It always baffles me when a show I see having a strong social media presence among the people in my feed gets cancelled, because it seems so rare that they ever bother to post about shows. but, while the new season was running, I had friends who were really into it. And I can’t say that for most of Apple plus’s programming (even if I’m a fan). 12) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/13/23

Two big new shows dropped yesterday. Also, Hulu, which just brought back moonlighting, announced the return of LA Law in November (not the remake). And there was news of Halloween being purchased for TV rights and a cinematic universe. So look for a Michael Myers TV show as well as I guess an Avengers style Myers universe? 10) The Ren and Stimpy Show (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended While I am still enjoying a little taste of nostalgia, this series very much relies on sight gags and really needs audio description. It also has some perfect gags, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/12/23

So AMPTPA walked away from SAG talks all pissy, because SAG didn’t make the deal. look, the studios had a lot of way more specific deals to iron out with SAG than the WGA and DGA, and saying you offered them the same deal is impossible. Did you commit to having hairstylists on set who are able to properly style ethnic hair? Did you guarantee the safety of extras on set? Did you agree to stop trying to scan everyone and stop owning their likeness in perpetuity? I bet if these negotiations were available for regular folk to watch, AMPTPA … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/11/23

I’m trying to keep up with the bottom three on Dancing With The Stars, and Adrian Peterson has made it further than I thought he would. it’s almost like he’s made a switch or something. 6) Ahsoka (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed in case you are wondering how the final episode of the Disney Plus series wound up at the bottom, I have two words for you. Stormtrooper Zombies. No thank you. It’s not TV news, but I’m pretty excited that michael Mann’s next movie is Heat 2. I’m less excited that he’s expressing interest in Adam Driver. part of what made the first film so great was that it put Pacino against DeNiro, and there just really isn’t anyone for Driver to go up against. While I’m unfamiliar with the screenplay, I think you have to go with some kind of pairing that is relative to that experience. The only one I can think of currently is Matt Damon vs Ben Affleck, but I’m sure there’s one out there that is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/09/23

Your TV news for the day is that the upcoming 3rd season of Vikings: Valhalla will be its last. 11) The Continental (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Thank God this is behind me. I was so over this show. Mel Gibson really gave his all to an unredeemable villain, but as far as the rest goes, this feels nothing like the franchise from which it was adapted. it has so much dialogue, it almost feels like a more violent TV adaptation of oceans 11. Where I Watched It: Amazon English Audio Description provided By: Media Access Group Narrated By: Brianna Leon I’m not a wrestling guy. I can name the wrestlers who have crossed over into film, but beyond that, I don’t watch any wrestling. That also goes for the Luchadors. I barely understand conceptually what the WWE is going for, and the extent of my knowledge of these masked Mexican wrestlers is limited to Nacho Libre. So, perhaps the biopic about a Mexican icon wasn’t aimed at me. It’s quite possible I slid into the wrong film. But, one thing seems to always … Continue reading Cassandro

I don’t know how I missed the drama, but Starz apparently cancelled Heels, and almost immediately removed the show from its service. There was a notable campaign on Twitter to shame Starz for cancelling the series. honestly, with Outlander in its final season, if they don’t start figuring out their programming, they’ll be the Power network, and it’ll be hard to get people attracted to new shows who aren’t watching Power spinoffs. 11) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended People get shot at in this episode, and it’s tough to figure out who and when, since there’s no … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/06/23

Looks like iCarly is going away again as paramount Plus has axed the reboot after 3 seasons. Since this was a Nickelodeon show (which is a Paramount station), the chances of this moving anywhere are non existent. 8) Adventure Time (MAX) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I think perhaps I would have preferred audio description so i could follow the episode. Tubi really does have some deep cuts in terms of shows they have that are no longer on the air. Check out what I found in the rankings below. 8) Name That Tune (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Not Yet Renewed Megan Hilty! That’s really all I needed. I wish the show skewed in her favor, and she had to guess something like Secondhand White Baby Grand from Smash. It didn’t happen. Maybe Chevy Chase will get taht Three Amigos reunion he’s been clamoring for. 7) The Irrational (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed I get to free up my schedule by a show now.
