Seth Hoffman clearly had some thoughts. Luckily, AMC was willing to listen, because as The Walking Dead: Dead City was sort of headed nowhere, Hoffman stepped in, asked someone to hold his beer, and figured out how to alter the course of a series quickly headed for cancellation. A weird day yesterday. Best laid plans. Didn’t get to review things as I had hoped. Coming up this week on streaming, the biggest movie seems to be Netflix’s The Whisper Man with Adam Scott, Robert DeNiro, and Michelle Monaghan. Again, living out my Oscar shame. Though, Steel Magnolias surprisingly was not nominated for as many Oscars as I would have assumed. The fact that I’m hearing that the SAG AMPTA negotiations are being held up over AI really tells me all I need to know about the studios positions. There are a lot of articles out there about “When is my favorite show coming back?” Presumably, once the leadership passes the tentative agreement on, they will lift the restrictions while WGA members vote on whether or not to approve. Right now, the only thing that has stopped is picketing. A tentative deal has been reached between the studios and the writers. The details have yet to be made public, but should be shortly as the membership has to vote on it. An official vote by leadership happens on Tuesday, which will solidify this a bit more, and possibly allow some writers to return to work. I just saw some encouraging news for fans of Twisted Metal. The debut of that series (which I will start soon) is considered to be Peacock’s most watched comedy original thus far. So if you wanted a second season, there’s a good chance.
