My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3

Where I Watched It: Peacock English Audio Description?: Yes Somehow we got here. I blame Tom hanks. It’s hard to blame Tom Hanks for anything, but his Playtone label really helped the first Greek Wedding 20 years ago, and now we are finishing off a trilogy that never needed to be a trilogy. Why is there a Greek Wedding trilogy? The film was about a woman falling in love and getting married, if her Greek family and Windex didn’t get in the way first. The sequel allowed them to show these characters a little older, along with giving our main … Continue reading My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3

You know, if Apple hadn’t just bothered to raise their rates, this wouldn’t bother me so much, but I fully expected Killers Of The Flower moon to move from theatres to Apple Plus like all prior Apple releases. This time, it is taking a pit stop where I can rent it for 20 bucks or buy it for 25. No. Go fuck yourself. I should *at least* have a discounted rate on this nonsense. Apple, unlike the other streamers, does not have licensed content. So, unlike when Disney, Warner, Universal, etc., release a film to theatres, their streaming service not … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/04/23

Apple Plus has pulled the plug on Central Park after three seasons. I stopped watching after the first, so this is not something I’m deeply invested in. Are you? 1) Bodies (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited This should be a fun plane to land. A high concept British drama about the same dead body inexplicably appearing in many different time periods. I can’t imagine the production value for this, showing all these various time periods in Britain, while also having cast members who are needed to flesh out each period in what seems like a monstrous undertaking. The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/03/23

Nyad

Where I watched it: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes This has been a year for Diana Nyad. Perhaps not her most special or groundbreaking, as she is a former Olympic swimmer, as well as being the first to swim from Cuba to the Florida Keys. The existence of a biopic has caused people to debate whether or not she did technically swim the distance, because we live in this world of alternative facts. So if there’s a fact you don’t like, you can pick another. Don’t like that Diana Nyad is a swimmer? She’s not. She’s actually a 15th century … Continue reading Nyad

Fingernails

Where I Watched It: Apple Plus English Audio Description?: Yes What a talented cast assembled of “next gen” legends in the making. Jessie Buckley already has an Oscar nomination to her name, and came close last year by being in the ensemble of Best Picture nominee Women Talking. Riz Ahmed has been on the rise for years, and secured his Oscar nomination with a powerful performance in Sound Of Metal. Jeremy Allen White is the front runner to win the Emmy this year for his work on The Bear, and is getting Oscar buzz for another film this year, A24’s … Continue reading Fingernails

After waiting a year to unceremoniously cancel the fantastic Riches, Amazon tries to make up for it by giving Reacher an early season 3 renewal. Yeah, not the same type of show, unless Jack Reacher is now played by a black actress, and the show is now about a heritage beauty brand for black people around the world and the family that helped push it to prominence that is now stuck in a Succession-esque fight for control over their dad’s company. I’m pretty sure that’s not the plot of Reacher. I could be wrong though. Who knows where Season 2 … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/02/23

I saw a mention of a virgin River Season 6, so I’m guessing it’s happening. And, Michelle Williams found an DX series worth her talent. Other than that, I think two Governors made out on live TV or something last night. Not really sure. 1) Neon (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown The gang look for someone to finance them. They meet a strong female boss lady and it seems like everything is going their way, until they realize she’s also a drug dealer. Oops. Episode Grade: A- 2) Found (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed I know … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/30/23

NBC has decided to stick with its Freshmen dramas Found and The Irrational for a second season. Hopefully, they stick with Quantum Leap as well. Especially if they are sticking with the incredibly formulaic Irrational. 1) Chucky (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Still going You know, in the season 2 finale, when Chucky starts reading about the silent chainsaw… I knew we were going to see that in action. I did not think it would be used in the way that it was. And for so long. Jesus. A bit much even for this show. That Caroline part was … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/29/23

I doubled my intake of shows from Monday. The big TV show news is that Amazon is developing a Spanish Language/Mexico version of The Boys, pretty much cementing it as their biggest franchise. Sorry, Middle-Earth fans, but once you pick up an animated spinoff, a second spinoff featuring younger characters, and then a Spanish language version… we’ll talk. I think the better question is whether or not it will have English Audio Description. Amazon recently dropped that Italian Christmas film Elf Me and it has no EAD track. They are becoming inconsistent like Netflix. 1) The Witcher (Netflix) English Audio … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/28/23

Had no idea this was happening, but apparently Baz Luhrmann recut his film Australia and released it on Hulu as a six part limited series. What an interesting concept. First, the Snyder Cut, now a new version of Australia. 1) Beckham (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited The first episode does a good job of explaining why David Beckham is famous. If you are at least familiar with the concept of who he is, you’ll be fine. It starts pretty much at the beginning of his football career, and the first episode takes him through his meteoric rise, and … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/26/23

Lego Marvel Avengers: Code Red

Where I Watched It: Disney Plus English Audio Description?: Yes I don’t normally watch these Lego things, except the feature movies, but there was something that drew me into this short film, and I’m glad I watched it. I am. genuinely. there’s a humor here that works, even if the voice cast is mostly just trying to sound like the people before them. It’s such an odd lineup, because black Widow is pretty front and center here, as is her father Red Guardian. In fact, it is the kidnapping of Red Guardian that sets the Avengers on their quest. In … Continue reading Lego Marvel Avengers: Code Red

Halloween (1978)

English Audio Description? Provided By: Zoo Digital Narrated By: Tanzi Alexander No, this is not my first rodeo. I’ve seen Halloween before. i actually own the film on DVD, so when you see that missing “Where I Watched It” segment, and you think I’m being sketchy, remember that I do own this film. Physically. The fact that the studio couldn’t be bothered to provide accessibility is not my problem. i should not have to seek out accessibility when I’ve done my part in purchasing your title. It’s not an upgrade. It’s what I need to function. So, this was my … Continue reading Halloween (1978)

Rumor has it that the team behind the new Scott Pilgrim show on Netflix have no plans to do a second season. Just an FYI for fans. Then again, the Strangers Things guys were only going to make 4 seasons, and they made more. So, peoples minds can be changed. And we’re probably getting a third season of Big little Lies. 1) Goosebumps (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed In what is likely the penultimate episode, a nod to the Give Yourself Goosebumps books, the kids are trapped in the Biddle house as Biddle is after … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/25/23

The Mill

Where I Watched it: Hulu English Audio Description?: Yes The Mill is one of those films you really should go into with as little actual knowledge of the film as possible. So, carefully sidestepping through this, I’ll offer you some reasons to check this out. The first has to be Lil Rel Howrey, who has spent the majority of his career pumping up comedic performances, but here is expected to play a relatable Everyman in what could be described as a pressure cooker thriller. There is no backstory given in The Mill, but you just are told what the script … Continue reading The Mill

What did you do for Black Friday? Did you buy some awesome gadgets? Any physical media? Did you finally splurge on that air fryer even though you don’t cook but you hope by owning an air fryer you will be more inclined to cook? 1) Neon (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed It’s charming me more and more with each episode. The gang gets an offer to shoot a music video, while their would-be agent gets shot down at work even though clearly she saved the day, and our budding musician has a nepotistic interview for a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/24/23
