The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/18/23

It’s funny how that last episode of Silo that I reviewed yesterday felt so much like a Season Finale, and so many streaming shows cap at 8, I just thought that was the finale. Apparently not. Hah. Damn, that will be hard to top. In other TV news, I’m still supporting the actors and writers for striking to not be replaced by AI. If they don’t do it now, they won’t be working later anyway. Although, the studios current proposal on scanning background talent to use their likeness in perpetuity really makes me wonder who would go be a background … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/18/23

12) 8 Simple Rules (Disney plus) English Audio Description?: No Sorry, this was a tough day to rank, and 8 Simple Rules just felt like it missed a mark the most. This episode had a solid reference to Three’s Company, but squandered the “kids out of the house” moment by not letting the adults actually have any meaningful time together. john Ritter’s time on the show was fleeting, and I can’t help but think this missed a mark to show that Paul and Kate were more than just parents. What made it worse was that Kate tried so hard to … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/17/23

I’ve been deep diving a bit more into the SAG-AFTRA talks and some of the stuff they’re requesting isn’t unreasonable. Actually, none of it is. Just take some of these CEO salaries, lower them, and you’ll have the money to pay for some of this stuff. Also, for the poor people without cable or Peacock, Yellowstone is coming to CBS in the fall since they are a little short on new programming. Add to that, the UK version of Ghosts, which I’m at least interested in checking out.

Audio description. It’s time Hollywood made that the norm, isn’t it? Anyway, i digress. 10) Outlander (Starz) English Audio Description?: No Status: Final Season So, I realized before starting to watch Season 7, i couldn’t remember where we left off. This show is hard enough to watch without audio description, but on top of that it has long gaps between seasons. So, like I did with The Witcher, I’m rewatching a bit. However, I only dropped back 1 season, to Season 6. Even with that, how the season opened, I was like… did I need to rewatch five? I remember … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/16/23

Run Rabbit Run

Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes this review is a bit of an exploration of what it means to be blind. So, stick with me here. Admittedly, I’m always running a bit behind on posting a physical review versus filming a YouTube video. Since I can immediately upload the word vomit, it’s just so simple to talk about something almost immediately after I see it. Here I feel like my thoughts have to be more concise, because reading is hard these days. Everything is basically a meme length or it didn’t happen. My initial thought on this … Continue reading Run Rabbit Run

Your fall TV lineup from the networks looks really different. Lots of game shows, reality shows, and non-scripted programming, plus content from the international market. 9) Dinosaurs (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I’m into the second season now. Junior ends up at his dad’s worksite. Will his dad’s boss eat him? These are the deep questions. Episode Grade: B- 8) Dave (FX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet renewed Also forever known as the Brad Pitt episode, this episode was so bizarre, but Brad Pitt’s level of commitment to this episode made it something else. Hearing … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/15/23

Minari (Tubi Has Audio Description!)

Where I Watched It: Tubi English Audio Description: hell To The Yes! This is barely a review of Minari, which I should probably review, but I really wanted to talk a lot about how great it is that Tubi has audio description, even if it’s just on a handful of titles right now. Tubi has started offering audio description as of June, and if you follow the Audio Description Project (adp.acb.org) you can find their current list. They are a fast service, so their offerings are changing a lot. The way i use it is that audio description, like on … Continue reading Minari (Tubi Has Audio Description!)

So, SAG is on strike. It’s a great time to catch up on a show, since most of the shows haven’t been shooting, and now even more of them won’t be. I’ve heard some overseas productions are still filming. I’m not sure how. But they are MAX projects, including House Of The Dragon. 15) The Muppets Mayhem (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Now, I really want Peter Jackson to direct a Muppets movie. For those who don’t understand how amazing this would be, it’s not because of his Beatles thing on Disney Plus. Let’s just … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/13/23

Evil Dead Rise

Where I Watched It: HBO MAX English Audio Description?: Yes While I can understand the awesomeness of Bruce Campbell and his Ash character, i have to admit that my connection to this franchise is very limited. I’ve only seen Army of Darkness (and it’s probably been 20 years). however, if it helps, I’m quite familiar with Evil Dead: The Musical. Evil Dead Rise has gotten a lot of praise and I can’t really tell you it’s well deserved. Look, to be honest, based on what happens in this film, the gore would be too much for me if I could … Continue reading Evil Dead Rise

Yesterday was insane. Emmy nominations. Next year, i will start predicting bonkers choices just to match these Emmy voters. And, it was the last day of Prime day! What useless crap did you buy? Also, the SAg extension ended, which should mean the actors are on strike. i haven’t seen that officially, but that’s generally what means when a deadline passes. Considering I’ve heard the studios have no plans to negotiate with the WGA, and hopes to make them all poor so the writers will cave, I’m hoping the SAG strikes too. We need writers. Most of them. I know … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/12/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/11/23

Emmy Nominations are being announced at 11:30EST this morning. may the odds be ever in your shows favor. Unless your show is Yellowstone. In which case, you’ll need much more than a Hunger Games quote for a show the Emmy voters continuously ignore. 11) American Born Chinese (Disney plus) English Audio Description: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Perhaps this should have been the pilot. It goes much deeper into the other realm of Monkey business this show hints at. it’s such a weird show. I feel like it’s this great 10,000 piece puzzle that the picture looks great on the … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/11/23

Emmy Nominations and a SAG strike are both upon us. 8) The Crowded Room (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Humor me. If there was no shooting at the beginning, and this was just Seyfried interrogating holland, and learning about his past, with holland occasionally being confused as to why he was there, would you still be watching this? Or, are you hoping the ending will make it worth it? Are you watching simply because the stars are good? Because, this show isn’t a slow burn. That would suggest the potential of fire within that burn. This has … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/10/23

What a disappointing day of TV. 13) The Crowded Room (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited So, the show is going to try and confuse you through poor direction and writing. Got it. If this turns out that he has a split personality disorder, and this is like identity, I’m calling it now. We open with a shooting, and then transition to Tom Holland sitting in an interrogation room, where he talks about his time in high school and buying weed. WHAT? Luckily, I love Holland, so I’ll give this one more episode, but that was an awful … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/09/23

The Perfect Find

Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description provided by: Descriptive Video Works Narrated By Clement Chow Recently, I mentioned that I enjoy Gabrielle union. In my 40 Favorite Actors list, I had some honorable mentions, and Union was there. What I was going off was the idea that a certain person has the ability to draw me into a film, and how strong that pull is. Does it need to be combined with anyone else? Here, Union does have the pleasure of sharing the screen with Gina Torres, who I also adore, but this is Union’s film. Here we … Continue reading The Perfect Find
