Well, the wrong costume won The Masked Singer. Not the one I was rooting for, although, when the winner was revealed, I can’t say that’s a bad person to have on top. Also, Starz is seemingly trying to just turn into the Power network. After rapidly cancelling Heels earlier this year, and recently announcing the upcoming 3rd season of Hightower will be its last, they just cancelled Shining Veil. Yesterday was the nominations for the Critics Choice Film section, and my quick hot take is: they are more concerned with being a bellwether for predicting the Oscar’s that they aren’t doing anything interesting anymore. I think their choices are solid, and mostly what everyone is talking about, with very few exceptions. Not a ton of new TV news, but I did see that MAX is slating Season 3 of And Just Like That for 2025. No big TV news, so I’ll use my intro spot to announce that Lily Gladstone, the one-time front runner for Best Supporting Actress, has now flipped and decided to run for Lead Actress. Finally! Some TV news. I don’t know which is bigger. Lando has been elevated from a Disney plus series to a full fledged movie, so you can no longer expect it to come to Disney Plus (until after its theatrical run), and Netflix has picked One Piece up for a second season. The latter is kinda of a big deal considering their past anime adaptations haven’t made it to a second season (RIP Cowboy Bebop). NCIS has an Australian spinoff that is now slated to air in Primetime this fall. So, get ready for NCIS Sydney. Well, Disney Plus decided to ditch another show. So, Bob Iger complains that the Marvel shows are detracting from the films, but he seems intent on getting rid of the rest of the content.
