Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Theoretically, there is life in a franchise like ghostbusters, as the concept is pretty basic. Four guys with varying personalities use their ghost hunting tech to save the world. But, this has been really hard to pull off. Even Ghostbusters II, featuring the original cast lacks a little bit of that magic. I actually liked the remake with the ladies, but most people don’t. Then, Ghostbusters: Afterlife had fun with blending the old and new, and riding that nostalgia train. Fine. But what do you do next? inexplicably, everyone seemed to move to the Big Apple. They were all out … Continue reading Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

The Small Screen Diaries- 02/24/24

Man, i hope the SAG awards stay on Netflix. no commercials. Say anything you want. Fantastic. The predictable awards were predictable, and the other trophies painted a picture of the Actor and Actress race. Cillian Murphy has now won both the BAFTA and SAG, defeating Paul Giamatti at both. I cannot shake the feeling that Giamatti is winning for The Holdovers. It may just be because of how much I adore Paul, but I love both films and performances. On the actress side, Lily Gladstone closed the gap between her and Emma Stone by winning the SAG Actress trophy, while … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 02/24/24

The Small Screen Diaries- 02/16/24

I’m now only one episode away from learning which of the three contestants I don’t care about wins Squid Game: The Challenge (Netflix). Of course, I could just look it up, since this was decided a while ago, but I don’t binge shows. I like my cliffhangers. I’m glad Ashley didn’t make the final 3, since she couldn’t see the irony in someone not following with a selfless group act. But, I’m also not sure I want Maya to win. I’m not sure I want any of these three to win, because this show has been more interested in getting … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 02/16/24

HUGE TV news that was like a stake to my heart. This upcoming season of What We do In The Shadows will be its last. However, My Life With The Walter Boys (which is so totally on brand for Netflix) has already been renewed for a second season. 1) Everything Now (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown Another trigger warning, and this episode is great for expanding Mia’s brother. He has feelings too, and he’s barely had anything to do. Well, he’s greatly expanded after this episode. Sometimes, I forgot she had a brother. Episode Grade: B+ 2) Monarch … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/19/23

Yesterday was the nominations for the Critics Choice Film section, and my quick hot take is: they are more concerned with being a bellwether for predicting the Oscar’s that they aren’t doing anything interesting anymore. I think their choices are solid, and mostly what everyone is talking about, with very few exceptions. It’s just that I’ve spent the whole year listening to critics all over the internet talk about their undying love of Past Lives, and how much they want to give Selene Song an Oscar nomination in director, or how is’t a shame that Tao Yoo and John Meggaro … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/13/23

I’m not feeling the Pedro Pascal casting as Reed Richards, only because I was really hoping for John Krasinski.I know Pascal is hot right now, with The Last Of Us and The Mandalorian, so it makes sense. but Emily Blunt could have played Invisible Girl, and we know Krasinski can write/direct. Just saying. 1) Shelter (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Well, that was a doozie of a finale. I think this show was always all over the place, until it actually started trying to tie everything together. I’ve yet to see a Harlan show make a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/16/23

Nothing too big in the TV world. The CW confirmed what we already assumed, that this is the final season of The CW… I mean… Superman and Lois. It marks the final show to be cancelled in the once dominant DC Arrowverse that started with the Stephen Amell led series, and birthed spinoffs The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Superman and Lois, and arguably also Stargirl and Swamp Thing, though those were originally created for DC’s streaming service. The new CW seems less interested in making their own programming, and instead repurposing Canadian, British, and Australian shows. 9) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/02/23

Yesterday was a mother of a whirlwind. First, i did my happy dance when i saw that Amazon officially renewed Gen-V for a second season. Then, our world crashed down, as the absolutely brilliant The Problem With jon Stewart was cancelled at Apple Plus over “creative differences”. What? Maybe I should cancel Apple Plus and tel them it’s over creative differences. “I’ve decided to go another way.” Someone else had better pick up Jon Stewart ASAP. 8) 8) Dreaming Whilst Black (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown In the second episode, the laughs come mostly from culturally significant … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/19/23

Friday The 13th was a very unlucky day for one show. Apple pulled the plug on The After Party after two seasons. I’m not really sure why. It always baffles me when a show I see having a strong social media presence among the people in my feed gets cancelled, because it seems so rare that they ever bother to post about shows. but, while the new season was running, I had friends who were really into it. And I can’t say that for most of Apple plus’s programming (even if I’m a fan). 12) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/13/23

I don’t know how I missed the drama, but Starz apparently cancelled Heels, and almost immediately removed the show from its service. There was a notable campaign on Twitter to shame Starz for cancelling the series. honestly, with Outlander in its final season, if they don’t start figuring out their programming, they’ll be the Power network, and it’ll be hard to get people attracted to new shows who aren’t watching Power spinoffs. 11) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended People get shot at in this episode, and it’s tough to figure out who and when, since there’s no … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/06/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- September 27th

A show that did not have audio description last week on a certain platform does this week. Did it move up in the rankings? Let’s find out. 1) The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes The third episode of the season finds June trying to find out what purple means, Serena trying to find out if she’s done enough to earn respect in a place designed to subjugate women, Aunt Lydia pleading and apologizing to God, and a lot of other little treats. Another really powerful ending, and no matter how much I need to see Serena not survive … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- September 27th

The Too Much TV Roundup- September 20th

Today was interesting to be sure. A brand new show, and an attempt to watch something presented in a new format. 1) Locke and Key (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes So, as we march onward to the series finale, Ellie led Gideon to an alive former classmate, someone who was very nice back in high school days, and really wanted to be a part of their group, but they never let him in on the secret. They actually went in one time to remove a memory from his head, and it was that point that they hid the key. But, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- September 20th
