Yesterday was insane. Emmy nominations. Next year, i will start predicting bonkers choices just to match these Emmy voters. And, it was the last day of Prime day! What useless crap did you buy? Remember, we are just a few days away from SAG-AFTRA going on strike. There are people currently still working, and those people would stop. I can’t think of that many things that wouldn’t be in reruns. Take The View for example. Whoopi is definitely a SAG member. They’ve dodged the WGAA strike, but they wouldn’t be able to dodge this one. As yesterday was July 4th, you can probably guess that there wasn’t any big TV news. Biggest thing was that Daniel Radcliffe said he has no plans to appear in the Harry Potter TV series. I wouldn’t be too worried about that response. He is on miracle Workers, so he is comfortable doing TV. i did pick up some wind on the internet that hulu was dropping Alaska Daily and The Company You Keep from the service. i haven’t checked. i watched all of Alaska Daily, so it disappeared from my queue, and since i removed The Company you Keep from my watch history when I stopped watching it, it stopped being suggested to me. I always enjoy being able to drop some TV knowledge at the top. Freeform has cancelled The Watchful Eye and Single Drunk Female. Neither one of these had audio description. After The Other Two dropped their big bomb yesterday, Reservation Dogs followed them with the exact same announcement, that the 3rd season will be it’s last. I remember when most shows wanted to hit season 4 because it put syndication into play, but with shows no longer running 22 episode seasons, there’s no need for that. Reservation Dogs would need nine seasons to get to that point. Also, ABC is sticking with Home Economics a little bit longer. Before my TV news, I have to say that I always enjoy looking at the list of who has just been offered an Academy voting membership each year. To me, there’s always some hilarious comparison of someone who is obviously getting it really early, versus someone who has somehow flown under the water. You would think that considering neither of these actors were nominated last year that Bill Hader and Raul Castillo, for example, would not be getting offered membership in the same year. Paramount Plus is purging again. This time, I won’t be burned by saying everything has already been removed. The biggest cancellation/removal is Inside Amy Schumer. The rest are some documentaries, Paramount Plus original movies (Snow Day and Fantasy Football), and a bunch of Nickelodeon shows, only two of which I had even heard of. This is their first month, and they already have surpassed AMC Plus. Hah. Today, i plan on attending a virtual conference held by the ACB and the Audio Description project, in which I will get to hear representatives from streaming services talk about their commitment to Audio Description.
