The Ministry Of ungentlemanly Warfare

Guy Ritchie is one of those directors that I likely have seen 75% of their work. I know there are a few titles I’d have to cram if I was going to rank his body of work, but I used to be a big fan. even when he started to get commercialized, I still enjoyed his Sherlock Holmes movies. but, he’s not perfect, and some of his films just lack that Lock, Stock flair that attracted us to him in the first place. that is not the problem with The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, an action comedy that feels like … Continue reading The Ministry Of ungentlemanly Warfare

The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/05/23

Well, in TV news, John Oliver inked a 3 year renewal for Last Week Tonight with HBO. The Traitors: UK is nearing a premiere date. Someone marvelous won Dancing With The Stars. The Critics Choice nominations were so interesting for the TV nominees this year. Ramon Rodriguez slid in for Will Trent over more obvious performers like Brian Cox for Succession. The actresses nominated for Fall Of the House Of usher would not have been my go to nominees. It’s very sad that Mark Hamill was snubbed for that series. Anyway, without further delay, the roundup! 1) The Witcher (Netflix) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/05/23

I doubled my intake of shows from Monday. The big TV show news is that Amazon is developing a Spanish Language/Mexico version of The Boys, pretty much cementing it as their biggest franchise. Sorry, Middle-Earth fans, but once you pick up an animated spinoff, a second spinoff featuring younger characters, and then a Spanish language version… we’ll talk. I think the better question is whether or not it will have English Audio Description. Amazon recently dropped that Italian Christmas film Elf Me and it has no EAD track. They are becoming inconsistent like Netflix. 1) The Witcher (Netflix) English Audio … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/28/23

Well, looks like Jenna Ortega is unable to film Scream 7 due to Wednesday, so the world just became a lot less interested in a 7th entry… unless they pay up to reunite Nevé Campbell with her franchise. Maybe even Patrick Dempsey? Just a thought. Also, a Happy Thanksgiving to yours today. Enjoy all the food. However you eat, may it be plentiful and delicious. 1) The Witcher (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed It’s hard to tell exactly what the plans are for the next season without Henry Cavill, but they seem to be turning Siri into her … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/22/23

The SAG strike is over, and within minutes actors were being notified of projected start dates for filming so that shows can air some episodes in the spring. Many shows aren’t looking at being able to do more than 10, though some are hoping for 13.Most new shows are being shifted to next season, so don’t expect to see a lot of unfamiliar far. I do wonder how shows with visual effects will pan out, like the already shortened third (and rumored final) season of Labrea. Movies are also set to resume filming, with Venom 3 even looking at having … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/08/23

I was just thinking to myself the other day, when the hell is the second season of Julia coming out? It can’t be that hard of a show to shoot. Then, MAX sent me a push notification like it can read my brain, and let me know that Julia returns in November. Sarah Lancashire is brilliant, so start catching up if you’ve never seen it. 10) Praise Petey (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown What actually was this about? I remember there was a guy from New York, and he used to be a part of the cult but … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/24/23

I’m trying to keep up with the bottom three on Dancing With The Stars, and Adrian Peterson has made it further than I thought he would. it’s almost like he’s made a switch or something. 6) Ahsoka (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed in case you are wondering how the final episode of the Disney Plus series wound up at the bottom, I have two words for you. Stormtrooper Zombies. No thank you. I love Rosario Dawson, but this show has seemingly gone out of its way to be the weirdest and most disappointing series so … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/10/23

Good news! Hulu has picked up only Murders in The Building for a fourth season. Maybe Chevy Chase will get taht Three Amigos reunion he’s been clamoring for. 7) The Irrational (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed I get to free up my schedule by a show now. Two episodes. That was enough for me to tell this procedural can’t escape the been there done that feel of all other shows that came before it, where some smart person consults with police. After years of The Mentalist, lie To Me, unforgettable, and many others, there is nothing … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/03/23

Well, the WGA has recommended that writers end the strike officially, so things will be written again. I don’t expect to see the fruition of this until next year, except in talk shows, but it happened. Also, I’m not ranking Dancing With The Stars, but I wish the show had audio description like NBC’s The Voice now does. I sat through the first couple couples and then gave up. 10) The Ren and Stimpy Show (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I’m mostly doing this for my own personal nostalgic trip, but I have to acknowledge that the … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/26/23

No big TV news, so I’ll use my intro spot to announce that Lily Gladstone, the one-time front runner for Best Supporting Actress, has now flipped and decided to run for Lead Actress. We now call this “Pulling a Michelle Williams.” Hopefully she dominates the movie, because she is now competing in films where the lead Actress is in a film clearly about them. 10) Alias (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I’m still saying that this show is too action oriented to not have audio description. However, the second episode did have more dialogue. And, if you … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/19/23

Here’s the thing I don’t get. The Drew Barrymore show is being picketed, because Drew decided to go back to work, but Whoopi is on the View, and obviously a member of SAG since she’s still acting. So, why is Whoopi allowed to work on a talk show but Drew is not? Make it make sense. 8) Designing Women (ABC) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Someone really needs the Suzanne special touch when it comes to some beauty tips, or styling tips, but Delta Burke isn’t so sure she wants to give away trade secrets. Episode Grade: C+ 7) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/12/23

NCIS has an Australian spinoff that is now slated to air in Primetime this fall. So, get ready for NCIS Sydney. No, I’m not joking. 10) 10) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revival Just Ended This time it wasn’t just the shootouts that rendered this episode unwatchable, but also a car explosion. Did it kill anyone? It sounded like Neal McDonaugh was in a car, got out, and then it exploded. I would think he would be standing too close. But I don’t know, because this show is inaccessible. I’m just here to pick up as much of … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/05/23

The Flash

Where I Watched It: MAX English Audio Description?: Yes now that the maligned Flash project is on MAX, we can all make up our own opinions. Good news for the filmmakers in that I won’t be commenting on what I understand to be not very impressive visual effects. I also believe that despite how you feel about one person in a film, there are hundreds of people trying to make this art, and we need to be able to separate ourselves sometimes. So, Ezra is getting a clean slate for the purposes of this review. I also am a nerd, … Continue reading The Flash

While not TV news, I am always looking around the inter webz for Oscar thoughts, and I do love the people predicting the Oscars who acknowledge that it’s weird that everyone is predicting the same things. I know, which is why I’m actually trying not to. This time last year, we had Tom Cruise and Hugh Jackman as frontrunners. Certainly no one expected Andrea Riseborough, and after everyone saw Blonde, it was assumed to be dead in the race. Brian Tyree Henry seemed like an impossible nominee, and most people still had Paul Dano. I don’t believe Michelle Williams declared … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/29/23
