Warner TV suspended it’s TV deals with a lot of the major showrunners they had deals with. This strike is just one big power play for the studios. Hulu is on a cancellation spree. The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/25/23

I kinda mentioned how the season finale of Doogie Kamaloha felt like a series finale with her not choosing either of the guys, and instead choosing herself. Disney Plus has cancelled the show. I think we all knew they would. It’s a shame, because they have such a hard time launching a new series that isn’t Marvel or Star Wars. Doogie joins a couple other Disney Plus shows that only get to a second season, including The Mysterious Benedict Society, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Diary Of A Future President, and Big Shot. I saw a glimmer of TV news that reminded me that ABC’s limbo shows are all still in limbo. Decisions have not been made yet firmly on a second season of The Rookie Feds, a fourth season of Home Economics, or a first season of the Good Doctor spinoff The Good Lawyer. Not a huge list of titles, but I did spend a bulk of the day at a theatre watching Oppenheimer (review coming soon). I so rarely get TV news. Two stories in one day! First, Deadline has reported that the Emmy Awards are moving from September to an undetermined date in January. This means while other shows will likely be rewarding the current seasons of shows like The Bear and Only Murders in The Building, the Emmys are still rewarding the past earlier seasons.
