Remember how I said the strike would be leading to more and more announcements of cancellations? NBC has now confirmed that the shortened third season of Labrea is officially its last, something most people assumed. You don’t just cut an episode count that dramatically and keep it running for years after. Speaking of running for years, this upcoming season of Blue Bloods will be its last as well, but the show will split and finish its 14th season in the fall. 1) Wrestlers (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited This docuseries has proven far more interesting than I initially … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/20/23

It it looking like the solution to paying actors more isn’t for people in the boardrooms to not continue to make absurd amounts of money in non-creative positions managing creativity, instead the solution is to kill that creativity. Another show has gotten the axe, as Hallmark has cancelled their Yellowstone knockoff Ride after one season. Will more cancellations be coming? Most definitely my dude. 1) Sex Education (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Final Season Otis and Amy are both there for Maeve when she returns home to meet up with her brother and see her mom in the hospital.Only … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/17/23

I’m not feeling the Pedro Pascal casting as Reed Richards, only because I was really hoping for John Krasinski.I know Pascal is hot right now, with The Last Of Us and The Mandalorian, so it makes sense. but Emily Blunt could have played Invisible Girl, and we know Krasinski can write/direct. Just saying. 1) Shelter (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Well, that was a doozie of a finale. I think this show was always all over the place, until it actually started trying to tie everything together. I’ve yet to see a Harlan show make a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/16/23

Yesterday, I did a Speed Round, and I chose to list the shows in order I watched them, instead of ranking them. I actually kind of like that format better, so I’m sticking with it. Unless you guys riot, in which case, I’ll still probably keep doing it. We will not negotiate with terrorists! Or Netflix, apparently, which cancelled five shows yesterday. II was personally most upset that Glamorous wouldn’t be getting a second season, as I thought the ensemble had strong chemistry, and Agent Elvis was fun, but I know fans of Shadow and Bone worked really hard to … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/15/23

While TV season production starts are lining up, it’s important to still note when a network has abandoned ship. So, RIP to Praise Petey on Freeform. We hardly knew ye. Also, all the drama around the bizarre death of Coyote Vs Acme has led to Warner Bros supposedly screening the movie for other distributors. Who do I think should pick it up? Aside from the humorous potential of having a Looney Tunes movie released by Disney, I’m gonna have to say Tubi. It’s a free streaming service, and a lot of their originals are lower budgeted indies. Should they be … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/13/23

Did you watch any programming themed for Veteran’s Day yesterday? Or, were you like me, just catching up? 11) Hey Dude (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: no Status: Ended A cringeworthy episode where Ted is tasked with monitoring water usage, and asks his Native American friend Danny if he can do a rain dance. When Danny says he doesn’t know how, Ted says it’s easy and just does one. Later, this 80’s kids comedy does make a point of mentioning that this is offensive, but it also spends more time invested on Danny trying to figure out how to do … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/11/23

The Marvels box office is not just reflective of Marvel fatigue, but also the impact of the strike. Two of the films lead characters are being played by rising stars from Disney plus shows, and were unable to promote the film. Disney should have pushed this back, and now they have their lowest opening ever. 9) Name That Tune (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown honestly, just the most underwhelming episode. Jeff Ross knew all the songs until he got to the final, and then Tig knew all the songs, yet somehow Nicole ended up in the finale. Baffling. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/10/23

A couple of things. It’s like these companies were waiting for the strike to end to start their bad behavior. Immediately following news of the strike ending, Warner Bros celebrated by totally and permanently shelving Coyote Vs Acme, another finished feature project, and using it as a tax write-off. So, once again, a ton of artists worked on a film for months, just so it can live forever in a closet. Meanwhile, ABC should have already known the fates of The Rookie Feds and The Good Lawyer, because as soon as the strike was over, ABC cancelled The Rookie Feds, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/09/23

The SAG strike is over, and within minutes actors were being notified of projected start dates for filming so that shows can air some episodes in the spring. Many shows aren’t looking at being able to do more than 10, though some are hoping for 13.Most new shows are being shifted to next season, so don’t expect to see a lot of unfamiliar far. I do wonder how shows with visual effects will pan out, like the already shortened third (and rumored final) season of Labrea. Movies are also set to resume filming, with Venom 3 even looking at having … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/08/23

11) Seaquest DSV (Peacock) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I think I’ve given a few episodes a pass, as it is a bit easier being on a rewatch. but this episode focused quite a bit on a ghost ship, a diary, and possession? I’ll admit, when you throw ghosts and what I can assume was possession in the mix, it goes a little past being easy to just follow along. So, we are back to the studios saying they have submitted their “last, best, and final offer” to SAG. Just the fact that the studios are saying that makes me question its validity. Just saying. 5) Dreaming Whilst Black (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet renewed i didn’t even know there was a pregnant character on the show. Well, I suppose the studios weren’t ready to accept SAG’s proposal, so they sent back a counter. Honestly, these companies needing to win this AI battle is pissing me off. Stop trying to own a person’s likeness, especially without informed consent, and certainly not in perpetuity. Also, the new trailer for Echo dropped, and it’s going to be TV-MA. 9) The Gold (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited? in what should have been a movie, we slowly build to the police making their case and being able to arrest people for the heist. Nothing too big in the TV world. The CW confirmed what we already assumed, that this is the final season of The CW… I mean… Superman and Lois. It marks the final show to be cancelled in the once dominant DC Arrowverse that started with the Stephen Amell led series, and birthed spinoffs The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Superman and Lois, and arguably also Stargirl and Swamp Thing, though those were originally created for DC’s streaming service. The new CW seems less interested in making their own programming, and instead repurposing Canadian, British, and Australian shows. 9) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/02/23

The fact that I’m hearing that the SAG AMPTA negotiations are being held up over AI really tells me all I need to know about the studios positions. I do hope SAG does not waiver on their counter to many of the terrible ideas these studios were proposing, including owning an actors likeness in perpetuity, simply because they showed up as an extra for one day. People say that AI is the future, and there’s nothing we can do to stop it. If we don’t regulate it now, that same person is going to have their face regenerated into a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/01/23

First off, I want to give a big shoutout to Scott Blanks, another movie lover and audio description advocate who just dropped his first review on my site for Birth/Rebirth. Make sure to check that out. 9) Billy The Kid (MGM Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Season 2 Just Started I wanted to start this show and give it a shot, but sadly, this story based on the titular outlaw is really hard to follow without audio description.
