The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/13/23

Friday The 13th was a very unlucky day for one show. Apple pulled the plug on The After Party after two seasons. I’m not really sure why. It always baffles me when a show I see having a strong social media presence among the people in my feed gets cancelled, because it seems so rare that they ever bother to post about shows. but, while the new season was running, I had friends who were really into it. And I can’t say that for most of Apple plus’s programming (even if I’m a fan). 12) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/13/23

Two big new shows dropped yesterday. Also, Hulu, which just brought back moonlighting, announced the return of LA Law in November (not the remake). And there was news of Halloween being purchased for TV rights and a cinematic universe. So look for a Michael Myers TV show as well as I guess an Avengers style Myers universe? 10) The Ren and Stimpy Show (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended While I am still enjoying a little taste of nostalgia, this series very much relies on sight gags and really needs audio description. It also has some perfect gags, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/12/23

So AMPTPA walked away from SAG talks all pissy, because SAG didn’t make the deal. look, the studios had a lot of way more specific deals to iron out with SAG than the WGA and DGA, and saying you offered them the same deal is impossible. Did you commit to having hairstylists on set who are able to properly style ethnic hair? Did you guarantee the safety of extras on set? Did you agree to stop trying to scan everyone and stop owning their likeness in perpetuity? I bet if these negotiations were available for regular folk to watch, AMPTPA … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/11/23

I’m trying to keep up with the bottom three on Dancing With The Stars, and Adrian Peterson has made it further than I thought he would. it’s almost like he’s made a switch or something. 6) Ahsoka (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed in case you are wondering how the final episode of the Disney Plus series wound up at the bottom, I have two words for you. Stormtrooper Zombies. No thank you. I love Rosario Dawson, but this show has seemingly gone out of its way to be the weirdest and most disappointing series so … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/10/23

It’s not TV news, but I’m pretty excited that michael Mann’s next movie is Heat 2. I’m less excited that he’s expressing interest in Adam Driver. part of what made the first film so great was that it put Pacino against DeNiro, and there just really isn’t anyone for Driver to go up against. While I’m unfamiliar with the screenplay, I think you have to go with some kind of pairing that is relative to that experience. The only one I can think of currently is Matt Damon vs Ben Affleck, but I’m sure there’s one out there that is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/09/23

Your TV news for the day is that the upcoming 3rd season of Vikings: Valhalla will be its last. 11) The Continental (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Thank God this is behind me. I was so over this show. Mel Gibson really gave his all to an unredeemable villain, but as far as the rest goes, this feels nothing like the franchise from which it was adapted. it has so much dialogue, it almost feels like a more violent TV adaptation of oceans 11. Final Grade: C- 10) Trophy Wife (hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/07/23

I don’t know how I missed the drama, but Starz apparently cancelled Heels, and almost immediately removed the show from its service. There was a notable campaign on Twitter to shame Starz for cancelling the series. honestly, with Outlander in its final season, if they don’t start figuring out their programming, they’ll be the Power network, and it’ll be hard to get people attracted to new shows who aren’t watching Power spinoffs. 11) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended People get shot at in this episode, and it’s tough to figure out who and when, since there’s no … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/06/23

Where I Watched it: Hulu English Audio Description Provided By: Descriptive Video Works Narrated By: Arran Henn Written By: Jeff Heck (I wrote the review first, and was provided the name of the writer after the review was posted, and I wanted to give credit.) It’s a shame that I can’t credit the writer of this audio description, since it basically is the core experience any blind or visually impaired user would encounter. Sure, Erin provides a rather fantastic voice for the piece, but it’s the written script and how detailed it is that makes or breaks a film with … Continue reading No One Will Save You

Looks like iCarly is going away again as paramount Plus has axed the reboot after 3 seasons. Since this was a Nickelodeon show (which is a Paramount station), the chances of this moving anywhere are non existent. 8) Adventure Time (MAX) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I think perhaps I would have preferred audio description so i could follow the episode. I think I realized when they wer talking to a watermelon that I have not fully grasped this show yet. Tubi really does have some deep cuts in terms of shows they have that are no longer on the air. Check out what I found in the rankings below. 8) Name That Tune (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Not Yet Renewed Megan Hilty! That’s really all I needed. I wish the show skewed in her favor, and she had to guess something like Secondhand White Baby Grand from Smash. It didn’t happen. Episode Grade: B 7) 911 (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Moved To ABC This episode, S4E2, featured a catastrophe that kinda needed audio description, but once … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/04/23

Good news! Hulu has picked up only Murders in The Building for a fourth season. Maybe Chevy Chase will get taht Three Amigos reunion he’s been clamoring for. 7) The Irrational (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed I get to free up my schedule by a show now. Two episodes. That was enough for me to tell this procedural can’t escape the been there done that feel of all other shows that came before it, where some smart person consults with police. SAG-AFTRA is now in the negotiation phase. My great hope for them is that they shut the AI shit down entirely. With there being a dental commercial where AI ripped off Tom Hank’s voice, and another thing using Robin Williams, enough is enough. 9) Krapopolis (FOX) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown Dan Harmon’s odd show isn’t winning me over. The voice cast is talented, but so recognizable it just makes me think of the better shows these people came from. There’s no way I don’t hear Matt Barry and think Lazlo. Welcome to Spooky Season, where I will be stepping up your coverage of the scariest and spookiest films to watch this season. But for today, it’s just a regular old roundup. 14) The Continental (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited From the minds of people who never watched the original John Wick franchise comes a boring show with little to no action sequences and more dialogue in one episode than in the entire John Wick universe. Well, the shoe dropped. ABC officially cancelled Home Economics. It’s an odd decision, considering everything I’ve read suggests that sitcoms are the quickest thing to get back on the air. But, I guess ABC doesn’t feel like it had a place for it.Still to be determined: the fate of The Rookie” Feds. 11) Dinosaurs (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I’m going to pull the trigger finally here and say this show needs audio description. I’ve been letting it off the hook, but this multi-part storyline about war really highlights the need for audio description. I’ve been able … Continue reading The Too Much TV roundup- 09/29/23

Where I Watched It: Hulu English Audio Description?: No Sadly, Hulu (majority owned Disney), was unable to prioritize securing the audio description track for Theatre Camp, a Fox Searchlight release (also, Disney). If the red tape is so thick internally, what hope do the rest of us have? We might as well just give up now. if it’s too complicated for Disney to transfer audio description to Disney, then we’re all fucked. The majority of critics ignore their own bias, but I’m pretty up front about mine all the time. Going into this, I realized the movie was about music … Continue reading Theatre Camp
