The Small Screen Diaries- 03/19/24

Not surprising at all, but CBS will continue to air its Australian import, NCIS: Sydney for its second season, despite already having two NCIS shows, and currently in development on two more. Fun fact, this entire franchise only exists thanks to a series being rescued from cancellation. Possibly the smartest “save our show” ever has turned out to be CBS picking up JAG after it was cancelled at NBC after one season. Without that, they wouldn’t have had the long and successful run of the original show, nor would they have NCIS, NCIS Los Angeles, NCIS New Orleans, NCIS Hawaii, … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 03/19/24

The fact that I’m hearing that the SAG AMPTA negotiations are being held up over AI really tells me all I need to know about the studios positions. I do hope SAG does not waiver on their counter to many of the terrible ideas these studios were proposing, including owning an actors likeness in perpetuity, simply because they showed up as an extra for one day. People say that AI is the future, and there’s nothing we can do to stop it. If we don’t regulate it now, that same person is going to have their face regenerated into a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/01/23

Best Buy announced they will no longer be selling physical media after this holiday season. That breaks my heart. I have a massive physical media collection of DVD’s and BluRay’s, and before losing my vision, I used to love to hit up Best Buy on Black Friday, run in and grab a ton of new entries to my collection for cheap. Now, I’m all worried about whether or not something has audio description, which shockingly not every disc does. 12) Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended It’s not down here because of quality, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/14/23

A tentative deal has been reached between the studios and the writers. The details have yet to be made public, but should be shortly as the membership has to vote on it. An official vote by leadership happens on Tuesday, which will solidify this a bit more, and possibly allow some writers to return to work. Most writers will have to wait until the contract is fully ratified by the WGA as a whole, but writers for talk shows are expected to resume possibly later this week, as all they need is for Tuesday’s vote to pass. 11) Daryl Dixon … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/24/23

I saw the upcoming list of shows starting next week, and Virgin River is likely the one most worth mentioning. Though, I am really happy that I Am Groot got a second season. 14) The Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed Good news for fans, the show got renewed. I actually enjoyed everything I saw yesterday, and this is on the bottom really for two reasons. The first being that this series is still not describing the Spanish dialogue. I’m working on my DuoLingo, and I’m not adept at this, other than picking up a few words … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/02/23

For those of you who pay attention to relese dates, this is your heads up. Tomorrow, Season 3 of only Murders in The Building starts. 11) Dark Winds (AMC Plus) English Audio Description?: Red on, young man Status: Not Yet Renewed I had to start Dark Winds at the beginning. Of course, I looked for an alternative audio track, and instead of audio description, I got this “dialogue boost” offered. It’s certainly not the same thing, but I figured I’d at least try it out. It didn’t really seem to do much. Then, we got serious about the lack of … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/06/23

We will not go quietly without a fight! Today, we celebrate, our Independence Day! If you have a little kid, show them that movie, and tell them it really happened, and that’s the reason we celebrate July 4th. Just as a little test. See if they believe you. Anyway, welcome to Earth! 16) The Adventures Of The Gummi Bears (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: no Status: Ended well, I promised myself ten episodes of this series I loved as a kid, and part of some of these nostalgic trips is that not every show is hitting like i expected. Juneteenth! No TV news, just the fact that today is a holiday! 12) XO Kitty (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed It’s not that the series is bad, it just happens to be in 12th. I honestly only watched the first of the three films this series is a spinoff of, so I didn’t quite understand who the character was, and while it does a fair amount of explaining, I think it assumed the bulk of the audience were already fans. Episode Grade: B- 11) Home Improvement (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended That pumpkin scene at the … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/18/23
