Woke up to the tributes pouring in for Andre Braugher, who passed away at the age of just 61. He was such a brilliant actor, who could handle drama and comedy. I’m not going to lie and talk about how his performance on Homicide changed my life. I was young, and I never watched Homicide (or NYPD Blue for that matter). The writers struck for minimums in writers rooms, and I guess The CW’s All American Homecoming and Superman and Lois had rooms above the new increased minimum, so they are firing some to reduce costs and shrinking the writers rooms. Friday The 13th was a very unlucky day for one show. Apple pulled the plug on The After Party after two seasons. I’m not really sure why. It always baffles me when a show I see having a strong social media presence among the people in my feed gets cancelled, because it seems so rare that they ever bother to post about shows. but, while the new season was running, I had friends who were really into it. I don’t know how I missed the drama, but Starz apparently cancelled Heels, and almost immediately removed the show from its service. Well, the shoe dropped. ABC officially cancelled Home Economics. It’s an odd decision, considering everything I’ve read suggests that sitcoms are the quickest thing to get back on the air. The Dancing With The Stars drama is getting real. A quick update for those who are out of the loop. Dancing With The Stars currently has its contestants in rehearsal for the upcoming season. The WGA has been picketing these rehearsals, and putting pressure specifically on SAG members Alyson Hannigan, Mira Sorvino, and Matt Walsh. The pressure was enough that ABC is mulling pushing back the premiere, as Walsh has caved and paused his participation with the show. However! I wonder what social media is going to do to all the actors who wrote in letters of support for Danny Masterson. It’s not a great look right now for several of his former cast mates, as well as some random names like Giovanni Ribisi and Jonathan Tucker. i think what is truly telling is that not all of the cast did write letters. While not TV news, I am always looking around the inter webz for Oscar thoughts, and I do love the people predicting the Oscars who acknowledge that it’s weird that everyone is predicting the same things.
