Gran Turismo: A Second Look

Much like I did this summer by watching The Royal hotel a second time, and clearing that film of its initial Unwatchable grade, I noticed Netflix uploaded the audio description to Gran Turismo at some point. Mind you, I reviewed that film about a month after it had been on the service, so the delay is still unacceptable for Sony and Netflix. However, Neill Blomkamp and the cast and crew are taken off the Unwatchable list. The first time through, I could tell there was a hint of a film here that I would enjoy if it just had audio … Continue reading Gran Turismo: A Second Look

Red Right Hand

In a film that feels like it skipped theatres, Orlando Bloom heads an ensemble cast as a man who gets pulled into his dark past unwittingly, in order to save those he cares about. Bloom doesn’t get many lead opportunities anymore, but perhaps the most interesting performance in this is from Andie MacDowell, who made her early start playing sweet but smart characters in 90’s romcom’s, and here plays a polar opposite. This is a film where likely the title is the best thing about it, and most people who watch the film will forget having seen it. If it … Continue reading Red Right Hand

Gran Turismo

Granted, it’s been about a month since I watched this video game racing adaptation, but I don’t know why Sony would wait a month to add audio description. This review is based on the fact that when I initially watched this, it had no audio description, which is insane. Sony has more than enough money to put audio description on this title, and the fact that they didn’t on Netflix, or even in the Apple Store, really boggles the mind. Turismo was never my racing game. I enjoyed other franchises more when I could see. My favorite game had to … Continue reading Gran Turismo

40 For 40: Part 2

Keeping in line with my 40th birthday this year, here is the second list of films I watched. I’m trying to cast a wide net and bring in multiple streamers, but peacock refuses to host audio description for Universal titles not made in the last 3 years. So just like the first ten, one of these does not have audio description. This list spans films I saw over June and July, so it is possible that some have left the service listed. While there are numbers, this is not a rank of my favorites from best to worst, but rather … Continue reading 40 For 40: Part 2
