So, we are back to the studios saying they have submitted their “last, best, and final offer” to SAG. Just the fact that the studios are saying that makes me question its validity. Well, I suppose the studios weren’t ready to accept SAG’s proposal, so they sent back a counter. Honestly, these companies needing to win this AI battle is pissing me off. Stop trying to own a person’s likeness, especially without informed consent, and certainly not in perpetuity. I wish I could toss out this list and fill it with all of the amazing performances of Matthew Perry that I managed to watch yesterday. Perry was such a tremendous talent, who landed too many one-and-done shows that truly deserved a second season. Friday The 13th was a very unlucky day for one show. Apple pulled the plug on The After Party after two seasons. I’m not really sure why. It always baffles me when a show I see having a strong social media presence among the people in my feed gets cancelled, because it seems so rare that they ever bother to post about shows. but, while the new season was running, I had friends who were really into it. It’s not TV news, but I’m pretty excited that michael Mann’s next movie is Heat 2. I’m less excited that he’s expressing interest in Adam Driver. part of what made the first film so great was that it put Pacino against DeNiro, and there just really isn’t anyone for Driver to go up against. There are a lot of articles out there about “When is my favorite show coming back?” Presumably, once the leadership passes the tentative agreement on, they will lift the restrictions while WGA members vote on whether or not to approve.
