A couple of things. It’s like these companies were waiting for the strike to end to start their bad behavior. Immediately following news of the strike ending, Warner Bros celebrated by totally and permanently shelving Coyote Vs Acme, another finished feature project, and using it as a tax write-off. So, once again, a ton of artists worked on a film for months, just so it can live forever in a closet. Meanwhile, ABC should have already known the fates of The Rookie Feds and The Good Lawyer, because as soon as the strike was over, ABC cancelled The Rookie Feds, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/09/23

So, we are back to the studios saying they have submitted their “last, best, and final offer” to SAG. Just the fact that the studios are saying that makes me question its validity. Just saying. 5) Dreaming Whilst Black (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet renewed i didn’t even know there was a pregnant character on the show. This whole thing was about a birth. And I was so surprised by it. Episode Grade: B 4) Praise Petey (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Not Yet renewed The Cult is still poor, so they start throwing barn … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/4/23

Following up on my earlier post about The Great, there are rumors that HBo is looking at picking up the show, as some major stars were already rumored to be joining the Season 4 cast, and the show was apparently in pre-production. Little birds were telling me Jonathan Groff and Laura Linney would have appeared in Season 4. Will HBO save The Great? We will have to wait and see. #11) 911 (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Moving To ABC i was halfway into season 3 before I got this Eddie centric episode, which not only included combat sequences … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/31/23

Where I Watched it: AMC Plus English Audio Description?: No Owen Wilson plays a Bob Ross type. That’s the movie. you can all go home now. Well, so there’s more to it than that. Sure, he has a perm, and lives in a van (though perhaps not down by a river), and suddenly has competition from a pretentiously named new artist who doesn’t like to paint mountains and trees. She’s rather paint a bullet train. It’s a quirky film, and Wilson’s supporting cast, which include untouchable stalwarts like Stephen Root and Catherine Keener, do some nice work in their roles. … Continue reading Paint

I’ve been deep diving a bit more into the SAG-AFTRA talks and some of the stuff they’re requesting isn’t unreasonable. Actually, none of it is. Just take some of these CEO salaries, lower them, and you’ll have the money to pay for some of this stuff. Also, for the poor people without cable or Peacock, Yellowstone is coming to CBS in the fall since they are a little short on new programming. Add to that, the UK version of Ghosts, which I’m at least interested in checking out.

12) 8 Simple Rules (Disney plus) English Audio Description?: No Sorry, this was a tough day to rank, and 8 Simple Rules just felt like it missed a mark the most. This episode had a solid reference to Three’s Company, but squandered the “kids out of the house” moment by not letting the adults actually have any meaningful time together. john Ritter’s time on the show was fleeting, and I can’t help but think this missed a mark to show that Paul and Kate were more than just parents. What made it worse was that Kate tried so hard to … Continue reading I’ve been deep diving a bit more into the SAG-AFTRA talks and some of the stuff they’re requesting isn’t unreasonable. Paramount Plus is purging again. This time, I won’t be burned by saying everything has already been removed. The biggest cancellation/removal is Inside Amy Schumer. The rest are some documentaries, Paramount Plus original movies (Snow Day and Fantasy Football), and a bunch of Nickelodeon shows, only two of which I had even heard of. No 90’s content except Allegra’s Window sounded familiar. 10) Family Matters (MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended Nothing really was wrong here, except Laura sold the wrong quilt, and had to get it back. It was very dramatic. Episode Grade: B 9) 911 (Hulu) English … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/26/23

I happened to stumble on a show I’ve been checking semi-frequently on audio description, and I found out that Yellowjackets (Season 1) now has AD. this was a show I had started, but didn’t finish. I’m starting over on it. See where it landed in the rankings below. 13) The Family Stallone (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed If Sly wasn’t in this, I wouldn’t watch it. Well, filming on 1923’s second season has been postponed until after the writers strike. I get the feeling these strikes are going to last for a while. 10) Designing Women (Hulu) English Audio Description?: no Status: Ended The ladies and their somewhat problematic boyfriends prepare to celebrate New years. Episode Grade: B- 9) Friends (MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended Whence we last left off, Monica and Richard broke up, and Chandler reunited with Janice. This is not a fair trade. Well, The CW finally made some choices. They’ve axed Gotham knights, but are keeping All American homecoming and Superman and Lois. Also, heartbreaking news that Treat Williams was killed in a motorcycle accident at the age of 71. Those who check out the roundup semi-frequently might have noticed I’ve been rewatching Everwood. He will always be Dr. Andy Brown for me. Since I’ve started rewatching the show, I’ve lost two Everwood cast members. Where I Watched it: iTunes English Audio Description?: No It may surprise you that this out of left field Oscar nominee that made 27K at the box office from something called “Momentum Films” doesn’t have audio description. if it does surprise you, you’ve probably been to an independent film festival and seen films without distribution have accessibility. Especially some incredibly low budget films that wind up at film festivals geared specifically to the blind and visually impaired community, where the films you’ve likely never heard of are made my blind and visually impaired talent. So, no, Leslie doesn’t get a … Continue reading To Leslie

What random assortment of nonsense did i string together today? Which shows totally unrelated are against each other in rankings? Well, we do have a show I have never put in the top spot before, so that’s new. 1) Pachenko (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes This Japanese/Korean drama proved that you don’t need to watch Asian people risking their lives for cash in order for the story to translate and be compelling on its own. Pachenko is it’s own thing, a drama constructed around a point in history that is not uniquely American, challenging our audiences to watch something … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- July 13th

I definitely watched a really nice chunk of shows. not everything was perfect, but the overall quality was solid. 1) Outer Range (Amazon) English Audio Description: Yes I had a really hard time picking the top spot because so many shows were on fire. Outer Range though, with all its twists and turns continued to amaze me. Whether it be Royal’s rather destructive treatment of Autumn, or her ultimate path toward revenge (and that phone call! Who is funding her?), to the smaller moments between a brother who made a choice thinking it was the right call, but not knowing … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- July 4th
