Next Goal Wins

Back when we were predicting the 2022 Oscars, this film was rumored to be hitting that block, until it got pushed. Now, it wasn’t the only film to get pushed, and some films did end up benefitting from moving, like Killers Of The Flower Moon. However, after seeing next Goal Wins, I’m not sure why it was ever “in contention”. Not that I didn’t like the film, it is just your basic inspirational sports drama. I caught this on Disney Plus with audio description by Deluxe, with narration by Mary Song. The narration is fine, since this is a grown … Continue reading Next Goal Wins

Surprisingly, around the presents, phone calls, food, and other holiday shenanigans I managed 5 shows, and two movies. Not bad. Obviously, there wasn’t any major news coming out of Hollywood. Could you imagine if your show got cancelled on Christmas? Damn. 1) Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited After figuring out that Scott may not be dead, Ramona goes and visits Scott’s ex girlfriends to see if they have any info to offer. The list is short. Episode Grade: A- 2) The Santa Clauses (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown Santa has to … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/25/23

I’m writing the next day about what I watched on Christmas Eve, which means you are reading this on Christmas, so Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! And for those who don’t celebrate, today is weird because everything is closed… except movie theatres. I guess you gotta go see a movie today. 1) Squid Game: The Challenge (Netflix) English Audio Description Provided By International Digital Center Written By liz Gutman Narrated By Sri Gordon Status: Unknown This seems like a no-brainer for a second season, except for the lawsuits Netflix is having to deal with. They gave outlast a second season, and … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/24/23

I’m happy for Fred Armisen, and I’m happy for anyone who actually enjoyed his portrayal of Uncle Fester. He was my least favorite casting choice in the series. I would much rather have watched a prequel series that showed the times Gomez and Mortica spent there as young folk. But the world needs more Fester. 1) bodies (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited My perpetual problem with this show will be the massive cast and the time jumps. there are too many people for me to follow or care about, and I’m also trying to unravel a really complex … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/18/23

The Golden Globe nominations came out and several TV shows managed to work their way onto the list. But, mostly Succession. 1) Bodies (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited I’m enjoying the mystery of it all, but my complaint is the same. Even as the story impresses me, there are too many damn characters across too many timelines, and these episodes feel crammed and jumbled. I shouldn’t always be wondering who the hell someone is. but, every episode so far, I either wonder who they are, or what timeline we are in. Episode Grade: B+ 2) Billions (Paramount Plus) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/11/23

You know, if Apple hadn’t just bothered to raise their rates, this wouldn’t bother me so much, but I fully expected Killers Of The Flower moon to move from theatres to Apple Plus like all prior Apple releases. This time, it is taking a pit stop where I can rent it for 20 bucks or buy it for 25. No. Go fuck yourself. I should *at least* have a discounted rate on this nonsense. Apple, unlike the other streamers, does not have licensed content. So, unlike when Disney, Warner, Universal, etc., release a film to theatres, their streaming service not … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/04/23

What did you do for Black Friday? Did you buy some awesome gadgets? Any physical media? Did you finally splurge on that air fryer even though you don’t cook but you hope by owning an air fryer you will be more inclined to cook? 1) Neon (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed It’s charming me more and more with each episode. The gang gets an offer to shoot a music video, while their would-be agent gets shot down at work even though clearly she saved the day, and our budding musician has a nepotistic interview for a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/24/23

I guess there has been movement on the Big Little Lies front. Kidman just finished shooting a series for Netflix, Reese Witherspoon should be between seasons of The Morning Show, and I assume the rest of the cast is available. 1) The Fall Of The House Of Usher (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Series I went seven episodes warning Flanagan that if he did what I was aware could happen, that we would not be on good terms. he made his choice, so i make mine. It it looking like the solution to paying actors more isn’t for people in the boardrooms to not continue to make absurd amounts of money in non-creative positions managing creativity, instead the solution is to kill that creativity. Another show has gotten the axe, as Hallmark has cancelled their Yellowstone knockoff Ride after one season. Will more cancellations be coming? Most definitely my dude. 1) Sex Education (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Final Season Otis and Amy are both there for Maeve when she returns home to meet up with her brother and see her mom in the hospital.Only … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/17/23

Did you watch any programming themed for Veteran’s Day yesterday? Or, were you like me, just catching up? 11) Hey Dude (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: no Status: Ended A cringeworthy episode where Ted is tasked with monitoring water usage, and asks his Native American friend Danny if he can do a rain dance. When Danny says he doesn’t know how, Ted says it’s easy and just does one. Later, this 80’s kids comedy does make a point of mentioning that this is offensive, but it also spends more time invested on Danny trying to figure out how to do … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/11/23

Did you remember, remember the 5th of November? Maybe? No? Well, lawmen launched yesterday on Paramount Plus, becoming the 3rd technical spinoff from Yellowstone, and another notch on Taylor Sheridan’s belt. 4) Shining Veil (Starz) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I did try and make it through season 1, and it was a challenge. This is like a horror comedy, and there are a lot of elements you miss. But the performances from Courtney Cox and Greg Kinnear are just so damn good. I miss most of the references, but sometimes they just launch into a tirade, or the … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/05/23

Hulu is on a cancellation spree. After axing The Great, the drop came for How I Met Your Father which has been cancelled after two seasons. 12) Designing Women (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended In Anthony Jr., Anthony is told he has a son. Oddly enough, until now, I thought his character was gay. Or, at least the equivalent of the time period when having gay characters on TV meant they never really talked about it. Also, what actually happened to Delta Burke’s career? I feel like she should have had more sitcoms after this, and all I … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/02/23

Thor: Love and Thunder

Where I Watched It: Disney Plus English Audio Description?: Yes The first thing you need to know about me is that going in, I’m a huge Thor Ragnarok fan. It is very much one of my favorite Marvel films ever. What Taika managed to do with a franchise that was laid to rest with The Dark World is amazing. Some people thought he turned Thor into a joke, and I think he really gave a breath of life into a character whose first two films left people rather tepid. So, I was predisposed to love this film. I have yet … Continue reading Thor: Love and Thunder

It’s time once again for the ten shows I watched last week that made me think one way or the other. As a reminder, I don’t binge watch, so I may be a bit behind on some streaming shows. Not all shows will have audio description either, but I will be denoting what does. Secondary note: The Peacock app is crap and I can barely get it to work, let alone activate audio description, so everything I watch on there is without audio description. Maybe someday… Without further adieu… 1) Murderville (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Yes, it took me … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup

Directed By: Shawn Levy Where I Watched It: Disney Plus (though it is also now on HBO MAX) English Audio Description Available?: Yes The Plot: For every gamer that has long wanted a Grand Theft Auto movie, this is about as close as you’ll ever get.
