The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/11/23

The Golden Globe nominations came out and several TV shows managed to work their way onto the list. But, mostly Succession. 1) Bodies (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited I’m enjoying the mystery of it all, but my complaint is the same. Even as the story impresses me, there are too many damn characters across too many timelines, and these episodes feel crammed and jumbled. I shouldn’t always be wondering who the hell someone is. but, every episode so far, I either wonder who they are, or what timeline we are in. Episode Grade: B+ 2) Billions (Paramount Plus) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/11/23

NBC has decided to stick with its Freshmen dramas Found and The Irrational for a second season. Hopefully, they stick with Quantum Leap as well. Especially if they are sticking with the incredibly formulaic Irrational. 1) Chucky (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Still going You know, in the season 2 finale, when Chucky starts reading about the silent chainsaw… I knew we were going to see that in action. I did not think it would be used in the way that it was. And for so long. Jesus. A bit much even for this show. That Caroline part was … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/29/23

Dancing With The Stars certainly took the magic of Disney night to max corporate synergy. Meanwhile, some top Hollywood talent are meeting with the SAG negotiations to see what’s up. Oh, I don’t know… the studios don’t want to negotiate? 12) World On Fire (PBS) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I assumed this was a limited series the first time around, but PBS brought it back apparently without Helen hunt, and far more conversations not in English. This is a war drama with a lot of subtitles I can’t read, so much like AMC Plus’s Daryl Dixon, it is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/17/23

RIP Dumbledore. I loved both Richard Harris and Michael Gambon’s takes on Dumbledore, and since there is virtually nothing worth discussing in the world of TV and Film news, I’ll use my preamble area to mention the passing of Michael Gambon. 11) Alias (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Come on Disney! Put some audio description on it! This show always has some kind of action sequence set to music. As much as I love this show, it’s hard to keep ranking it dead last as unwatchable all the time because it is an action show with scenes … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup: 09/28/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/19/23

No big TV news, so I’ll use my intro spot to announce that Lily Gladstone, the one-time front runner for Best Supporting Actress, has now flipped and decided to run for Lead Actress. We now call this “Pulling a Michelle Williams.” Hopefully she dominates the movie, because she is now competing in films where the lead Actress is in a film clearly about them. 10) Alias (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I’m still saying that this show is too action oriented to not have audio description. However, the second episode did have more dialogue. And, if you … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/19/23

Finally! Some TV news. I don’t know which is bigger. Lando has been elevated from a Disney plus series to a full fledged movie, so you can no longer expect it to come to Disney Plus (until after its theatrical run), and Netflix has picked One Piece up for a second season. The latter is kinda of a big deal considering their past anime adaptations haven’t made it to a second season (RIP Cowboy Bebop). Also, Netflix finds it appropriate to release yet another major international title without accessibility for their blind and visually impaired users so I’m considering doing … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/14/23

Not quite as many shows today, but more than the previous Monday. The big TV news is that HBO has predictably cancelled The idol. No surprise there. 7) 7) How To Become A Cult Leader (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited I was more interested in the second episode, which found us diving into Jim Jones and the Jonestown massacre. This actually brought up quite a lot of things I didn’t know, and I found it more interesting than the Manson episode. Episode Grade: B+ 6) Frasier (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revival Coming Soon Bulldog spends … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/28/23
