Following up on my earlier post about The Great, there are rumors that HBo is looking at picking up the show, as some major stars were already rumored to be joining the Season 4 cast, and the show was apparently in pre-production. While not TV news, I am always looking around the inter webz for Oscar thoughts, and I do love the people predicting the Oscars who acknowledge that it’s weird that everyone is predicting the same things. I know, which is why I’m actually trying not to. This time last year, we had Tom Cruise and Hugh Jackman as frontrunners. Certainly no one expected Andrea Riseborough, and after everyone saw Blonde, it was assumed to be dead in the race. Not TV news, but Dune pt 2 has vacated 2023 due to the strike and the inability to successfully launch a promotional campaign. That leaves some gaps in the Oscar race. MAX is sticking with And Just Like That, picking up the series for a third season. Well, Amazon done gone and pissed me the hell off. be careful what you wish for kids, because sometimes you get TV news. I saw a glimmer of TV news that reminded me that ABC’s limbo shows are all still in limbo. Decisions have not been made yet firmly on a second season of The Rookie Feds, a fourth season of Home Economics, or a first season of the Good Doctor spinoff The Good Lawyer. The WGA is attempting to sit down and begin talks again, and we shall see how that progresses. I shall predict that the whole thing we aren’t liking about how streaming services are pulling content will be far more common place after the strike is settled, and some of those shows they have to start paying residuals on. Well, the WGA didn’t end up going back to the table after all. So the strike is still on. i truly believe these studios refuse to budge on AI, and the guilds can’t afford to, because they understand once they allow it in the door contractually it will start putting people out of work.
