1) Community
If you rolled your eyes, you’re probably a Community-purist, which is OK. You probably thought that a non-Dan Harmon Community is blasphemy, and you hated the fourth season. Me? I couldn’t tell the difference. I thought there were some terrific episodes this season, like the Christmas episode, or the season finale. It’s time to give NBC’s most underrated underdog its due.
2) Happy Endings
Nothing could possibly help Happy Endings’ prospects more than being nominated for Best Comedy Series after ABC’s unceremonious cancellation of the beloved cult favorite. A nomination for Happy Endings would be “ah-mah-zing” as our beloved Penny would say. Is this likely to happen? Probably not, but I would be totes happy if it did.
3) Modern Family
I’m a firm believer that this show is as strong as it has ever been, and has not waned in quality (like Community). Another nod for Modern Family is expected.
4) The Office/30 Rock
I’m good with dealing a “posthumous” nomination to either The Office or 30 Rock. The Office might deserve it a bit more, because the series finale was a bit more fulfilling, but I could be OK with a 30 Rock nomination as well.
5) Archer
OK. Wait. Hear me out. I know, I could have said “Parks and Rec”, and maybe I should have put Parks and Rec in Modern Family’s spot. But, it’s so rare that an animated series ever even be considered against comedy series. The question I propose to you is, have you ever watched an episode of Archer and not laughed out loud? The answer is probably No, and that’s why Archer deserves to be recognized.
What are your picks?
