Now On Netflix: The Starving Games

Starring: Maiara Walsh, Brant Daugherty, Cody Christian, Diedrich Bader, and a bunch of people who wish this wasn’t on their IMDB.

Directed By Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer

I feel like I could review this film in a haiku.

Since this film has a shocking (not really) ZERO percent, I figure I’d check in on some gem soundbytes.

“Not so much a “‘film’ as ’83 minutes of terrible things happening on a screen.'”- IGN Movies

For the uninitiated, Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer are horrific directors. Some people still find their movies funny, but they fail to directly spoof the films. Instead, non-sensical jokes like featuring Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds in a largely Hunger Games spoof, take place of actual jokes.

The thing is, you can’t just make pop culture references, and hope that the audience finds just the reference funny.

The good news is that I finished the film, which is more than I can say for most of the films. There was also… ONE… joke that made me laugh. Making fun of Hawkeye made me laugh. So, I won’t fail this film. But, I can’t recommend it either.
