It came from Netflix: Danger 5

Recently it’s seems as though watching television is becoming a lifestyle. Before Netflix one would watch shows when they came on, now it’s required to binge watch. A lot of these shows are extremely dramatic and less like television shows and more like miniature movies that unfold over an exhausting amount of time, only to lead viewers toward a disappointing cliffhanger. I personally attempted to go with the flow and dabble in these bing worthy programs, however the stoic nature of said programs didn’t do much to hold my attention. Perhaps the stoic nature is in response to our current position in the world, a state of uncertainty and chaos. However such seriousness should yield parody rather then an exhausting amount of added gravity. Fortunately I stumbled upon this gem buried deep within Netflix, Danger 5.  Danger 5 is presented like a 60’s era action adventure series which happens to be extremely self aware. Air planes are held up with strings, plots are ludicrous, and the dialogue sounds as though like it’s over dubbed, all the while winking at the audience as though we know we’re in on the joke. A show like this is a refreshing  departure in a world of exhaustingly repetitive television shows.  Danger 5 is extremely modern even though it’s mocking shows from the past, makes one wonder if these cliches have been around a lot longer then we realize.
