Actor Profile: Cameron Diaz

The first film I saw Cameron Diaz in was The Mask, and she proved herself very adept at comedy, conquering My Best Friends Wedding, There’s Something About Mary, and other comedies throughout her career. I remember my mom saying she would just be a flash in the pan actress, but she’s been around for 20 years now, still bankrolling movies. She hasn’t faded, her star is still strong. I’ve seen glimmers of her real talent in a few films, like Any Given Sunday, In Her Shoes, and Gangs Of New York. I think one day she’ll get the right role and an Oscar nomination, much the same way Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, and Reese Witherspoon have all evolved into serious actresses. I hope she gets her due one day.

Definitely Gangs Of New York, though In Her Shoes is a strong runner up. Also, props to Any Given Sunday and Being John Malkovich. As a comedienne, I’d say There’s Something About Mary or Bad Teacher as her strongest “funny” role. I think she also did a pretty good job recently as Hannigan in Annie. It was a different take on the role, and she did a good job with it. Everyone had high expectations, and she met the challenge.

Well, everyone knows Princess Fiona from Shrek, but she’s still super iconic for There’s Something About Mary.

Not a lot of people have seen In Her Shoes, so I think that qualifies here.

I could go all the way back to She’s The One or more recent with The Counselor. I heard mixed things about The Counselor, which is why I still haven’t seen it. So I don’t know.

I really disliked Vanilla Sky, but I feel like I have to choose Sex Tape here.
