Well, there’s a one and done on this list. And I’m pretty bummed about it.
1) Beavis and Butthead (Paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
I feel like as I get older, I tend to settle for comedies that make me chuckle internally, or make me smile. It’a rare for me to laugh this hard, but Mike judge’s Beavis and Butthead revival is killing me. in episode 2, they watch one of those weird whisper YouTube videos, and their reaction is hilarious. But the crème de la crème was the half of the episode they were trying to get wasps to make honey. The serious critic in me is like, you watched some hard drama yesterday, and you put this on top? Yes. yes I did.
Episode Grade: A
2) For All Mankind (Apple Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
An episode that resolved the landslide and the ramifications of Danny being a fuck up. Three people died because of his drug addiction. I feel like that needs to be addressed moving forward. But, the twist at the end of the episode, that’s something I kind of saw coming. So, you did not get me with your little mic drop. Excellently acted by Kris Marshall and Joel kinnaman among others.
Episode Grade: A
3) The Sandman (Netflix)
English Audio Description? Yes
Episode 7 started to tell the story of a vortex, which seems like a bad thing to have, if you’re listening to everyone including Desire and Despair. But the vortex is this incredibly normal young girl trying to be reunited with her little brother after they were separated for some reason in a divorce. Now, her mom is dead, and she just wants to see her brother again. human stories in a show about gods and monsters seem to really carry this tale to the next level.
Episode Grade: A
4) The Good Fight (Paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Well, Diane was tripping balls all episode, but the winning element here was the return of Alan Cumming as Eli Gold, to help Marisa, and to tie up loose Good Wife ends. Cumming was great, and andre Braugher continues to expand the weirdness of his character. ultimately, Audra McDonald owned this episode, putting a documentarian in her place.
Episode Grade: A
5) Baymax (Disney Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
This show had a plan and came full circle? In the final episode, Baymax needed help, so all those he had already helped in the other episodes rush to his aid to save him from death when he’s trapped in a building about to be demolished and his battery has run out. Nice full circle finale.

6) A League Of Their Own (Amazon)
English Audio Description?: Yes
I feel like I just wanted something else from this show. If they were going to adapt it, it needed to be about baseball, with girls who loved to play baseball. That’s why I’ve been drawn to Max, because her sole drive in life was baseball. But now, the sole drive seems to be making this show about being gay at a time where it can get you killed. It makes the baseball elements not work as well. It’s a very unbalanced show, and now that two more characters are outed in this episode, we’re officially halfway to The l Word. I wish the show had built to this moment over time, instead of making it the priority from day one. Yes, it was extremely powerful to see the club raided. yes, there are still some terrific performances. But, I don’t think this show can survive simply by continuing to double down on going off script, and leaving the baseball element as a side effect. These girls in real life only got to do this for a short period of time, and we should see them loving every moment on that field. We just don’t.

7) monarch (FOX/ hulu)
English Audio Description?: No
Susan Sarandon was the reason, and this awful FOX drama has such a poor taste pilot as the matriarch of a country music family is trying to kill herself in the pilot as a result of her cancer diagnoses. The country world lost a legend to suicide, and having the main character in the pilot trying to kill herself is not a great start to a show that NEEDS Sarandon to Shepard the rest of the fresh faces who can all sing, but can’t act. That includes Trace Adkins, who has a terrific range, just not dramatically. This is one and done for me. A combined lack of audio description and too many damn TV shows means I will not be returning to Monarch. They had plenty of time to reshoot and re-edit this pilot, but they went with the leading suicide storyline anyway. The judds deserve better.
