Heading into this week, i was close to finishing several shows. So, with some shows wrapping up this week, and a limited number of new shows joining, my list might start to look a bit more like a sane person eventually.
New Shows this Week: the last Anniversary (AMC Plus), Tales Of The Underworld (Disney Plus), The Stolen Girl (Disney Plus), Forever (Netflix), Drag Race All Stars (Paramount Plus), and making a return is the Pitt (MAX) after getting awards buzz.
Winner: The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu) with audio description- it has just been an exceptional final season so far, and this is holding the top spot. Even though I watched all the top competition for this spot, this still wins. I believe there are three episodes left.
Runner Up: Hacks (MAX) with audio description- No change. I’m now three episodes into the new season. It is pure excellence.
#3- The Studio (Apple Plus) with audio description- There’s going to be a lot of shifting this week, but not from the top three. These shows are solid as rocks. the Studio was renewed for a second season, and I’m fully caught up.
#4- the righteous Gemstones (MAX) with audio description- This did climb a bit for its last placement on the rankings ever. That was a beast of a finale, and my best wishes to the show moving forward. Emmy’s, the ball is in your court.
#5- The last Of us (MAX) with audio description- I actually really enjoyed the last episode, but judging by the critical and ratings reception for the show, I was right. while I continued to love and watch the Walking dead, a certain character death also caused a mass exodus. sometimes, what you tried in the video game or comic book just doesn’t work as well on screen for mass audiences unfamiliar with the material, or those looking for perhaps a change.
#6- Etoile (Amazon) with audio description- I love this new dance drama. I hope it gets a reneweal, and some Emmy love. Luke Kirby is excellent. I’m halfway through the first season.
#7- Last Week tonight (MAX) no audio description- Other than flipping The Righteous Gemstones and The Last of Us, this top 7 is unchanged from last week. A teflon set of shows, and this is consistently the highest show on my list with no audio description.
#8- Andor (Disney Plus) with audio description- Quite a nice bump from last week. A show down in the teens is now top 10, and it did it through a great set of episodes, with the 8th episode being the best hour of any Star Wars show so far. Can it keep this momentum until the end?
#9- St Dennis Medical (Peacock) with audio description- I did finish season 1, so this won’t e back on the list for a while. A very strong first season for a new sitcom I became immediately attached to.
#10- from (MGM Plus) with audio description- it patiently waits for me to start season 2. with the amount of shows ending, the time may be soon, which likely will lead to from climbing the ranks again.
#11- Your Friends And neighbors (Apple plus) with audio description- it slid just a little, because while Jon Hamm is excellent, Amanda Peet is struggling with dramatic work.
#12- Blac Mirror (Netflix) with audio description- With being thrown in the middle, I had to choose, and I chose to start from the beginning. So black mirror should be hanging out on this list for a while, though I did notice some seasons are only 4 episodes.
#13- Jurassic World: Chaos Theory (Netflix) with audio description- I’m now at the halfway point of this show as well.
#14- Midcentury Modern (Hulu) with audio description- there really hasn’t been much of a change week to week, other than the jump for Andor. I’m at six of the ten episodes. I’m hoping Hulu sticks with the show.
#15- The Daily Show (Paramount Plus) no audio description- I only watched the Monday show, but sometimes the Monday show is enough. it still blows my mind that Apple had a deal with Jon Stewart and let it die.
#16- Pop culture jeopardy (Amazon) with audio description- I did get a new episode in, so I’m done with 16 of the episodes so far.
#17- Elzabeth (Paramount Plus) with audio description- It slid a little because I didn’t watch a new episode. it was already renewed, and I have time to catch up and finish the last few episodes.
#18- Jeopardy Masters (Hulu) with audio description- We got audio description in time for the second episode. Huzzah!
#19- The Bondsman (Amazon) with audio description- in finished the first season, and now we wait to see if Amazon sticks with it. The finale had some brutal moments, with one series regular pegged as “unlikely to return”.
#20- deli boys (Hulu) with audio description- Another show finished, and not on the list next week. Hopefully Hulu will keep this around as well.
#21- Matlock (Paramount Plus) with audio description- And another one done this week. I wish we had more closure in the finale, and I’m more worried about dragging what should have been a 1 season story into another season.
#22- Dying For sex (Hulu) with audio description- Another show finished! Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, and sissy Spacek were absolutely divine.
#23- You (Netflix) with audio description- I’m only 3 episodes into the final season, so this should stick around a bit.
#24- Ghosts (Paramount Plus) with audio description- A steady performer and I think I have a few more episodes left.
#25- The Walking Dead: Dead city (AMC Plus/Netflix) No/Yes Audio Description- i still have 1 more episode on Netflix with audio description, but I also am still watching the new season as well.
#26- Survival Of The Thickest (Netflix) with audio description- I do like this show, and it proves a constant and reliable good time. Mavis standing up to a snobby designer last episode was great.
#27- Running Pointe (Netflix) with audio description- I had one job going into this week. Watch the last episode, and that didn’t happen.
#28- Top chef (Peacock) with audio description- I didn’t agree with the judges on the elimination this week, which they did anyway despite another contestant up for elimination asking them not to. that was disappointing, but it was still restaurant wars!
#29- The rookie (Hulu) with audio description- someone sacrificed themselves to save another, and it made for an impactful episode in an uneven season.
#30- #1 Happy Family USA (Amazon) with audio description- 4 episodes into this, and also 30 shows so far and not a single new show.
#31- Wandla (Apple plus) with audio description- I’m still happy this animated adventure is back, but I’m only 2 episodes in.
#32- forever (Netflix) with audio description- Making its debut this week, with two episodes done, this Judy Blume adaptation is cute. i wonder if it is consequential though, or if it will just be a nice show about young love.
#33- tales of The Underworld (Disney Plus) with audio description- it enters as quickly as it exits. I watched all six episodes in one week. I liked the first three more than the last three.
#34- the Masked Singer (Hulu) no audio description- A bit of a jump up, but due to the finale, and solid choice of winner. All four turned out to be singers, but the biggest of them all ended up winning the whole thing. they can still draw talent 13 seasons in.
#35- American Idol (Hulu) no audio description- there’s talent on this show, but it keeps getting voted off. The elimination of Canaan and Colby is the stuff legendary rage is made of, and we still have singers in the Top 7 that don’t really deserve to win. Listening to Abby carter’s dull single this week made me want to know what Will Mosley was up to.
#36- drag race All Stars (Paramount Plus) with audio description- Why not keep the reality flow going? I do question the logic, nay, insanity of calling something “All-Stars’ while inviting back someone who was eliminated first. All star? Ummmm.
#37- The Pitt (MAX) with audio description- The fact that this show returned as high as it did on my list is saying a lot about the other shows on it. Am I admitting I might have been too hasty? Sure. I rewatched the first two episodes, and while I think the show is better than i gave it credit for, I still don’t see an Emmy contender here.
#38- the Rehearsal (MAX) with audio description- I’m 4 episodes into Season 1, and Nathan Fielder’s show is delightfully odd. I’m here for it.
#39- the Four Seasons (Netflix) with audio description- I’m three episodes in, and this show climbed in the rankings because episode three is where this started to kick in.
#40- Ransom canyon (Netflix) with audio description- I’m doing this guilty pleasure watch of Yellowstone meets virgin River. this is not high brow TV, but if those two making a baby sounds like a show you’d watch, I’m halfway through the first season.
#41- 1923 (PAramount Plus) with audio description- taking another jump up for its excellent finale is the final episode of this Yellowstone spinoff.
#42- Tracker (Paramount Plus) with audio description- I’m all caught up. This is just an average and steady performer for me. it also isn’t great, but some of the episodes are a lot of fun.
#43- 911 (Hulu) with audio description- Speaking of reliable performers, while Ryan Murphy’s flagship drama has declined since its premiere in terms of quality, I’m still watching eight seasons deep. I’m maybe one or two episodes behind.
#44- The Great North (Hulu) no audio description- I’m hoping this stays as part of Animation Domination. Apparently older seasons have audio description. Damn me to hell for daring to try and stay current and keep the ratings metrics looking good.
#45- SNL (Peacock) with audio description- Only rally slid again because I didn’t watch a new episode.
#46- North Of North (Netflix) with audio description- I’m down to one more episode on this as well.
#47- the Wheel Of Time (Amazon) with audio description- Even with excellent audio description, I really often have very little clue of what is going on. I’m down also to one more episode here.
#48- the Stolen Girl (Disney Plus) no audio description- I swear, I must have fever dreamed someone claiming they had audio described this specifically for Disney pus. it has no audio description on Disney plus or Hulu, even using different apps. however, the show is intriguing, and it has a chance of me sticking with it.
#49- survivor (Paramount Plus) with audio description- Good old reliable Survivor is getting closer to the final tribal council.
#Got To Get Out (Hulu) with audio description- I’m far enough along that someone does in fact… get out. it is possible.
#51- battle Camp (Netflix) with audio description- Naother new reality show that is fun, and recycles old reality show stars.
#52- Will Trent (Hulu) with audio description- I didn’t like the third season. it does have its moments, but I’m hoping season 4 has a new flavor to it.
#53- Krapapolis (Hulu) no audio description- it isn’t going anywhere from my list. So, with only a few slots left, it stays.
#54- Governemnt cheese (Apple plus) with audio description- this show could be a lot better. I’m five episodes in.
#55- devil May cry (Netflix) with audio description- two episodes left, and I intend to finish.
#56- Grimmsburg (Netflix) with audio description- Less likely to fall off the list as i catch up on the first season with audio description.
#57- Mobland (paramount Plus) with audio description- I’ve only seen two episodes, so i want to get back into this. It has to be better than I’m giving it credit for, right?
#58- Careme (Apple Plus) with audio description- it might fall off the list. I’m two episodes in, and theoretically on paper, I should love this show. I don’t know what is keeping me at a distance.
#59- Lazarus (MAX) with audio description- Clinging on for dear life.
#60- The Last Anniversary (AMC Plus) no audio description- I didn’t think it was worth an instant death, so I’ll wait a week and see if I watch another episode.
Danger Zone: The Traitors UK (Peacock), The Kardashians (Hulu), and Berlin ER (Apple Plus)
Removed from Watchlist: Suits LA- I didn’t like the show well enough to finish it once NBC axed it, so it dropped off the list immediately.
