NEW SHOW ALERT!- Adults is this generation trying to follow the same formula done and beaten to death. A group of burgeoning young adults face… adulting. This is Friends, happy Endings, The New Girl, How I Met your Mother, or any number of shows that have come before it, just single cam, and raunchier thanks to FX. It doesn’t match the absurdist humor of Its Always Sunny, but could pair well with that. After one episode, it was hard to gauge if there was a standout in the cast, but I think if the shows I’ve listed are your jam, you owe yourself at least one episode to see if this works for you. It may not. They have problems that reflect 2025 and their generation, which is not the same that the casts of the previous shows had to face. The audio description was fine, and didn’t do anything I would consider negative. Sitcoms, which this basically is, are the hardest genre to do, because they rely often so much on dialogue. That’s why they rarely ever get mentioned in terms of excellence. Some shows have a bit more visual reliance than others, but most need their cast to never stop talking for the show to work.

Best Episode: Sirens- I adore this show. the story, the performances, and the way it slowly plays out, everything just speaks to me. Some really good shows today but I’m obsessed with Sirens. I’m sad it is a limited series.

Runner Up: Black Mirror- The White bear episode was terrific. I guessed it was headed in a different direction, and I ended up wrong.

Best Audio Description: America’s Got Talent- this audio description team is really trying to bring the most to acts that are completely visual. We had these clowns this week doing a routine, no speaking, and the act was a lot, and needed a lot of audio description. It got it. The audio description here is really stellar for the genre, and for what it has to described.

runner Up: Sirens- I have adored this description since day one as well. I think this is also a very well written and narrated show, so props to Beth Rand (I believe) for her writing.

Best Performance: Milly Alcock (Sirens)- the third Sirens cast member to get individual recognition, and I could have earlier for Simone’s panic attack, but this episode feels more appropriate as she has to deal with a lot. her beau decided to finally take the next step, but now her Dad is there, and she hasn’t seen him intentionally in years. once again, she spirals, and is being pulled several different ways by everyone around her.

runner Up: Bill Camp (Sirens)- Seeing Bruce have more to do, and also have some lovely moments with Julianne Moore, reminds us how terrific he is. The father who is slipping in and out of memories, and doesn’t always know where he is, sees Moore and thinks she’s his long lost love, which leads to him opening up about is feelings. His daughters sadly don’t get to hear most of what he has to say, because it is heartbreaking.

Best Moment Of Audio Description: The Jugglers (America’s Got Talent)- between the juggling act and the clowns, deciding which act is described in better detail is tough. I did like the jugglers a bit more, since they struggled a little with the jacket, and that was mentioned in the description.

Runner Up: Setting The Scene (Black Mirror)- At the end of white Bear, they end up showing you how it all happened, as they reset for it to all happen again. the little attention to detail along the way was excellent, and I loved the callback to the calendar (which was initially well described).

Worst Of…- 911. Where did the audio description go? I’m even a few weeks behind. Why are we not consistently making this magic happen?
