Another day, another dollar. Another week, another set of shows being ranked. Some new shows debuted, like FUBAR (Netflix), Next Gun NYC (peacock), and Sherlock and daughter (MAX), but also a great time to catch up on some old shows, including Euphoria (MAX), Breaking Bad (Netflix), King of The Hill (Hulu), and Futurama (Hulu).
WINNER: Hacks (MAX) with audio description- Hacks wins the week again. Two episodes still left, so it shouldn’t be losing its spot anytime soon. But, can Hacks sweep the Emmys? That’s the question. Justice for Hannah Einbinder!
Runner Up: Sirens (Netflix) with audio description- I’m obsessed. I finished this, and I really want a second season. I know it is limited, but that means nothing anymore.
#3- From (MG Plus) with audio description- Considering I’m on a catch up, From has a shot at taking the top spot when Hacks is done, unless something coming up (Ironheart, The Bear) ends up being amazing out of the gate. I’m pretty certain we haven’t had lore this deep since Lost, with so many unanswered questions.
#4- Black Mirror (Netflix) with audio description- Like watching short films. however, because of the nature, if it had a run of underwhelming episodes, it could also trend down. Right now, I’m really happy with my decision to finally watch this from the beginning.
#5- Poker Face (Peacock) with audio description- Natasha Lyonne’s detective comedy isn’t bullshit. It’s fantastic, and deserving of its Top 5 spot. It allows for so many excellent guest spots, and people are certainly showing up.
#6- Last Week tonight (MAX) no audio description- Always the highest ranked show with no audio description.
#7- Bet (Netflix) with audio description- Another new obsession of mine, but I’m also certain Netflix isn’t going to pick this up. I appear to be the only one loving this series. I feel like it is beautifully realized live action anime, and the audio description is great.
#8- Breaking Bad (Netflix) with audio description- I wanted to give it room. this might feel blasphemous, but I’m only one episode in right now. A top 10 debut is still impressive for any show.
#9- Murderbot (Apple Plus) with audio description- Someone dropped into my comments for my YouTube review of this, and gave me such rich description I’ve been missing from the AD track. i feel like I know so much more from a kind stranger. I do enjoy this a lot, in spite of mediocre audio description.
#10- Stick (Apple Plus) with audio description- Owen Wilson’s new golf comedy moves into the Top 10. Now that the episodes seem to not run as long as the pilot, I think it will find the sweet spot.
#11- Jurassic World: chaos Theory (Netflix) with audio description- I wrapped Season 3. Not sure when Season 4 is coming, but I’m always here for the Nublar Six. I wish Jenna Ortega had been able to continue as Brooklyn, but her soundalike replacement has done a nice job. Also, excellent audio description.
#12- The Pitt (MAX) with audio description- For a show I stopped watching, clearly giving it a second chance has paid off. It keeps getting better and better. the hype is real, yo. the audio description is OK. It has a tough time with all the dialogue. I’ve heard some terrific moments, but a few times I’ve felt lost too.
#13- Overcompensating (Amazon) with audio description- Another show on the rise. It has gained at least 10 spots since premiering.
#14- the Better Sister (Amazon)with audio description- i do feel like they are revealing a lot up front, so I’m wondering how this ends. it ca’t be that simple, can it?
#15- the Daily Show (PAramount Plus) no audio description- I watched it twice last week. A steady performer on this list.
#16- Forever (Netflix) with audio description- the show keeps getting better, the audio description is solid, the performances are strong. forever continues to be more than your typical teen drama.
#18- duster (MAX) with audio description- this has climbed a lot too. I’m surprised JJ Abrams made this, but it is working out so far.
#18- Your friends And Neighbors (Apple Plus) with audio description- Already renewed. this was one that debuted higher, and slid a bit, but once it landed in the teens, that always felt like the right range for it. it could be better, but it needs to give its supporting cast more attention and storylines that have nothing to do with coop. That is why Mad Men worked.
#19- Nine Perfect Strangers (Hulu) with audio description- this new cast is giving much better performances than I expected from a show that didn’t need another season, until they made it resemble White Lotus.
#20- Pop culture Jeopardy (Amazon) with audio description- I’m 20 episodes in. this season is long, and I’m OK with that.
#21- The Rehearsal (MAX) with audio description- I’ve been liking season 2 more than season 1, so this has been steadily climbing as well.
#22- You (Netflix) with audio description- The potentials for the finale scare me. I think I’m one episode away, and joe can’t get a happily ever after.
#23- The Walking dead: dead City (AMC Plus) no audio description- Jeffrey Dean Morgan is killing it this season. I love him, I love negan’s redemption arc. I hate that AMC Plus doesn’t have audio description on this.
#24- Euphoria (MAX) with audio description- Never watched before. These kids scare me. Zendaya does some nice work in the premiere. I have no idea how I’ll react moving forward.
#25- Wondla (Apple Plus) with audio description- Finished season two. I’m hoping for a season three. A family show that doesn’t play to the youngest of your kids.
#26- Adults (Hulu) with audio description- So far, so good. The cast is growing on me slowly.
#27- And Just Like That (MAX) with audio description- Dump Aiden, and I’ll bump you up at least to a Top 20 spot. I promise. Bring back Samantha, and who knows how high you could go.
#28- Top Chef (Peacock) with audio description- I’ll finish this next week. I’ve apparently been one episode behind this whole time.
#29- Drag Race All Stars (Paramount Plus) with audio description- we are moving onto Group 3. I think I’m a tad behind here as well.
#30- Motorheads (Amazon) with audio description- typical teen drama stuff, with a radio friendly soundtrack. Amazon should keep this going. #31- The buccaneers (Apple Plus) with audio description- Season 2 starts next week, but I’m still not caught up. this is Ok. fluffy.
#32- the Survivors (Netflix) with audio description- I’m interested in the backstory. It hasn’t blown me away just yet.
#33- Bosch Legacy ((Amazon) with audio description- A steady and reliable performer in its final season.
#34- The Great North (Hulu) no audio description- A steady performer for me.
#35- Futurama (Hulu) no audio description yet- I’ve been trying to catch up. I’m almost at season 6.
#36- Yellowstone (Peacock) with audio description- it feels so cheesy now, I could see this falling down the list. I know I only have a few episodes left.
#37- Ginny and Georgia (Netflix) with audio description- 3 episodes into season 1. this show is fine. I will eventually catch up this time I think. For some reason, when Season 2 dropped, i didn’t watch, so I’m just rewatching the whole thing so I can remember it.
#38- Department Q (Netflix) with audio description- I understand this has a lot of franchise potential. Netflix is also giving it a late stage Emmy push.
#39- SNL (Peacock) with audio description- Still need to finish the last season.
#40- King Of THe Hill (Hulu) no audio description- trying to catch up before this revival hits Hulu.
#41- secrets We Keep (Netflix) with audio description- Should be finished next week. the twist was pretty good, and I wonder if there’s another. It does have TTS audio description so beware.
#42- No Man’s Land (Hulu) with audio description- one fo the two shows I would classify as challenging watches. Not for the faint of heart.
#43- tires (Netflix) with audio description- Shane’s brand of humor doesn’t really work on me, but I laugh once or twice an episode.
#44- Yes Chef (Peacock) with audio description- I like this. it’s fine. It isn’t Top Chef, but nothing is.
#44- FUBAR (Netflix) with audio description- Arnold is why i watch. He needs better writers, and about half the ensemble to be swapped for better scene partners for him. What makes Arnold funny largely is wasted in this show.
#45- Earnhardt (Amazon) with audio description- Done. Finished. I learned stuff about NASCAR, and Dale Earnhardt. It did what I thought it would do.
#47- F1: the Academy (Netflix) with audio description- It isn’t realy a competition series, but more of a straight docuseries. it is fine, and so is the audio description.
#48- 911 (Hulu) with audio description- Finally finished a weird season that tried my patience. Pay Angela Bassett boatloads to come back, because this show is nothing without her.
#49- Love death and robots (Netflix) with audio description- the cat episode is everything.
#50- Destination X (Peacock) with audio description- this reality series is fine, but its ranking benefits a lot from my love for its host.
#51- America’s Got Talent (Peacock) with audio description- i could see myself not finishing this season, although, I think it is one of the top five audio description tracks. they really manage to try and fit in a lot to a reality show. it is quite impressive.
#52- Grimmsburg (Netflix) with audio description- Still doing Season 1 with audio description.
#53- Battle camp (Netflix) with audio description- done. i could take this or leave it depending on whether or not Netflix wants to continue it.
#54- The Narrow Road to The Deep North (Amazon) with audio description- There isn’t an ounce of joy in this. it is brilliant, but so hard to get through.
#55- Berlin ER (Apple Plus) with audio description- I plan on finishing. i like this enough.
#56- Sherlock and daughter (MAX) no audio description- Some questionable acting and lack of AD puts this show at risk off the bat.
#57- Government Cheese (Apple Plus) with audio description- I didn’t like this. i finished it, and a few episodes were good, but the show overall never finds its footing.
#58- Lazarus (MAX) with audio description- if this ran 10 episodes, then I’m done for the season.
#59- Dark Winds (Netflix) no audio description yet- Struggling to get to season 2.
#60- the Kardashians (Hulu) with audio description- I understand hate watching now, and these ladies barely retained a top 60 spot.
Danger Zone: Next gen NYC (Peacock)
And, I ranked Bad Thoughts last. i also finished it, so it isn’t being removed from my watchlist. I just don’t know what to call that. It ranked 62 of 62 shows.
