The Small Screen Diaries: 09/01/25

TV Shows Watched: The institute: S1E8 (MGM Plus) with audio description, My Life With The Walter Boys: S2E2 (Netflix) with audio description, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf: S1E2 (Amazon) with audio description, All of Us Are Dead: S1E10 (Netflix) with audio description, Hitmakers: S1E6 (Netflix) with audio description, and Irish Blood: S1E5 (Acorn) no audio description

The institute- I fully plan on doing a full review for this, so skipping this for now.

My Life With the Walter Boys- I laughed at the conversation where the irate resident of the town brings up “chain restaurants”. Bruh. I come from rural America, and judging by the fact that Silver ridge (or whatever this place is called) has its own school, means you have enough population to warrant something. You have some chain food in your town. All the little towns around me, once they got to at least over 1K, ended up with something usually attached to a gas station. But, in some areas, you have county schools that pull in from all the towns too small to have anything. Based on how this place is supposedly far from everywhere, I’m guessing they have a Dairy Queen. Or, maybe even a regional chain that has many restaurants, but only in a small area. I way over thought this. I know.

The terminal List: Dark Wolf- I’m not getting roped in as quick with this one. I think they’re hoping fans will just stick with it, which I will, but right now I do think the original was better. Though, no one answered my audio description conundrum from last week, so I’m assuming no one cares about this show.

All of us Are Dead- And now I’m caught up. I’m hoping Season 2 has better audio description. A funny thing happened at the end where my Netflix started glitching, and I thought I broke Netflix. It felt like it was trying to load the next thing, but it couldn’t. So it just started freaking out on me. very weird. And, by better I just mean human. the writing is fine.

Hitmakers- This show is quickly diving into the typical reality trash, as now the songwriters are having beef with each other like they became real Housewives overnight. What was initially a promising show, is turning into some weird hybrid talent/bitch fest. Not a great combo.

Irish Blood- Yes, i need AD for context, but I’d be lying if I said this was the worst thing I watched of the six shows. Sadly, this non-audio described program was in the top half. It’s a decent show, it just needs Acorn to get with the accessibility train so I know everything going on instead of some of it, while guessing a lot.

Say Something!
