TV Shows Watched: Fallout: S2E1 (Amazon) with audio description, Mr Scorsese: S1E4 (Apple TV) with audio description, Murdoch: Death In The Family: S1E5 (Hulu) with audio description, Name that Tune: S5E10 (Disney Plus) no audio description, and Death By Lightning: S1E2 (Netflix) with audio description
Fallout- Of course I had to jump right in on this. Love the show, and I’m glad it’s back. The audio description had to describe a lot of gory things, including a few exploding heads, but by far I was most grossed out by the presentation of flea soup. Ugh. If it has been a while for you, Amazon is a mensch, and they have a “last season on Fallout” that is pretty substantial AND has audio description. Like I said, a true mensch.
Mr Scorsese- Still, I say this is required viewing for any cinephiles. I wish he didn’t breeze over some of his films, like we barely discuss Cape Fear, and his post-Casino films. This episode mainly dealt with the fallout from The Last temptation Of Christ, Goodfellas, and Casino. I wanted more thoughts from Scorsese on Cape Fear, Kundun, and Bringing Out The Dead.
Murdoch: Death In the Family- some solid acting here, and this family is a hot ass mess of white privilege, something the grandfather basically admits to in the final scene he has with Beau. Beau is worried that his failings in life are weighting him down, and his grandfather assures him his privilege and name matter more. Kudos for Patricia Arquette’s character to find her own way, but sadly we still know how this story ends.
Name That Tune- Reggie Bush is really good at this game. Surprisingly. That’s all I have.
Death By Lightning- It is getting interesting now. I’m also struggling with some notes I’ve been told about the description incorrectly labeling characters. From what I can tell, it isn’t doing that. I jumped in ready to bite at this thing like a rabid pit bull, but I’m not finding a lot to bitch about. The only thing I could possibly offer would be a more immersive description given the period, instead of one focused primarily on who was just talking and to whom. But for the company who made this track, they have made far far worse. Unless the last two episodes are hot ass messes, I can’t just throw this under the bus.
