Jingle Bell Heist

Disclaimer: I’m a blind film critic. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

Someone stole my Christmas. Damn you Olivia Holt! the star of heart Eyes is back, and this time, she’s ready to steal… your heart. it wouldn’t be a Christmas movie if someone didn’t fall in love. I don’t know why, but we apparently need nearly every Christmas film to be about love. Not kids, not Santa, but love. Here, Holt’s target is Connor Swindles.

however, instead of your typical Christmas garbage you won’t remember a year from now, this one has a bit of magic to it. Just a little. Holt plays an American who moved back to England with her British mother so she could get healthcare, but the system is failing her, and she needs money. So, she starts swiping easy cash, and gets caught by someone she assumes is a thief. but really, our guy was accused of it, scapegoated, and spent time in jail for something he didn’t do. He’s looking for revenge, she’s looking for money, and they plan to rob this snobby businessman who owns the company where she works, and is also the guy who put poor Connor behind bars.

There’s actually a plot and a story here, and just when i was trying to figure out if this was worth a fresh or rotten, the film has a Hail mary twist at the end I think pays off. It really brought things full circle, as we learn the one secret we couldn’t have known.

If you’re looking for a fresh diversion this Christmas, you could do a lot worse. this actually feels like it had a bit of a budget, a competent screenwriter, and a fresh idea. you don’t usually find that in the rotating mix of Christmas generic slop.

Jingle Bell heist is worth stealing your time, even if it is just for one Christmas and chill.
