TV Shows Watched: Stranger Things: S5E7 (Netflix) with audio description, Boots: S1E? (Netflix) with audio description, SNL: Josh O’Connor (Peacock) no audio description yet?, and Elzabeth: S3E? (Paramount Plus) with audio description
Stranger Things- Another tame episode, all things considered. This series, while excellent, has been very skittish and full of separation anxiety ever since the Justice for Barb movement. So, we are at a point now, where there is this gaggle of characters, who the producers believe ALL need to make it to the finale apparently. At this point, I don’t even have faith they will kill one of the gang. If they do, it will be one, maybe just Hopper. Previously, with regards to characters you might care about, after Season 1, they try to put far more emotional weight on them, and then make sure we properly mourn their death. Unless you are Mike’s father… who is… forgotten? This is a nice episode for Will though. Loved the audio description, as the largest gang of Scoobies rides into the finale relatively unscathed.
Boots- Netflix axed this military drama, which got odd flak from the DOD, yet it is pretty pro-military even this late in the season, after the loss of one of the squad, and another character is being investigated for being gay. The gay characters here are super stoked to be here, in the army, and I’m not sure why that’s a bad thing, or why Netflix is running away from the last thing created by Norman Lear. The AD here is also solid, giving another reason to watch.
SNL- this isn’t even the most recent episode. The last person to host was Ariana Grande, so as of Dec 28th, Peacock still hadn’t uploaded the audio description from the December 13th episode. I’d say I gave it a reasonable amount of time. I have no regrets on this. 15 days should be enough to upload the track.
Elzabeth- Marissa! There’s a murder for Elzabeth to investigate, but Marissa Gold is back from The Good Wife/The good Fight. And, they end in a way so she’s definitely doing another episode. She’s mid conversation at the end of the episode. Solid audio description, which is pretty usual. The death and clues here aren’t wildly difficult to describe.
