The Abandons- A funny name for a show abandoned by its creator. Kurt Sutter left the series during production due to disagreements with the studio. When the creator of Sons Of Anarchy and its spinoff has thoughts, Netflix might want to let him do his thing. I think Paramount hasn’t given Taylor Sheridan a creative note in five years. Clearly, All’s Fair is an example of no one paying attention to Ryan Murphy, so who is micromanaging Kurt Sutter? This show could have been some frontier drama, but it is kind of slow, doesn’t have great character development, and isn’t sure what it wants to be. It reminds me a bit of 1923, but also that frontier show last year with Taylor Kitsch. Except Gillian Anderson is a better actress, and might single handedly save the show. Critics hate it, but that doesn’t mean I will, but I’m not encouraged. the audio description seemed fine. I didn’t have any questions, and there was even a dash of ethnic representation (because the show demands it).
Percy Jackson- Some of the descriptions are quite good. When Annabeth goes into the office, and we get that random mention of the Mariah Carey tape, it is so random, but oddly important. The stuff with the rainbow was nice, the way Percy interacts with his father through water is lovely, and some action sequences were well done. the character descriptions from Season 1 were lacking, and I stand by that. Character descriptions continue tobe the weakness of this series.
Squid Game: The Challenge- Basically centers around a nesting doll. Some people get cool prizes, some don’t. More people go home. The audio description is trying so hard but I just cannot remember who is what number when I’m given a name. A numbered contestant got description here, and I’ve already forgotten her number. She has tattoos though.
Emily In Paris- the title is a lie. She’s in Rome. Her new boyfriend is starting to get friendly with a lot of ladies, making Emily wonder if she really knows him. Damn. I thought this show was going to stay in Rome forever, never changing its name, all because Emily found true love. this AD is perfectly fine, I have no notes.
Breaking Bad- Diane Newman was one of the greats. More terrific AD as Walt continues his feud with Jesse, and weighs his options. The description at the strip club was done well, and the star shaped pasties were a nice touch.
