Justice For Renee Nicole Good. An unmistakable tragedy immediately twisted around and reframed to blame the victim, a young mother of three children. This is not what peace looks like. She was not running over anyone. She was driving away, and a stormtrooper chased after her, and when unable to stop the car with, I don’t know, the force? He instead opened fire on her. This is not the first time someone has been shot and killed while running from law enforcement, except Renee wasn’t fleeing. She hadn’t been accused of anything. If this doesn’t change our world, we don’t deserve to live in it. There should be an unconditional sorrow that is sorely lacking, and unfortunately, there is zero acccountability on this issue, as the fox ate all the hens in the henhouse already. ICE agents operate under DHS, whose secretary has already made it abundantly clear that her agent of chaos is a hero. This shooting would trigger an FBI investigation, which I’m sure FBI director Cash Patel is eager to get right on that. Every once in a while, I skip a diary. And truth be told, this did affect my ability to do this today. Instead of watching programs with audio description, I instead listened to political spin on a mother of three, guilty of nothing except driving away from a situation she was not in danger of being arrested in. She is not an immigrant, and ICE would not have the authority on this. We have sadly allowed them to feel like their range has extended beyond, which has resulted in a loss of life. Normally, this would be all you read, but I did look at one thing I’d also like to mention. I could wait a week, but while Renee’s death needs to be the focus until someone agrees she deserves justice, which is made impossible by a climate in which we casually toss about names of other countries we might bomb, invade, or steal like we’re trying to find a show on Netflix to watch, but her death is of the utmost importance. If this is being given a greenlight, with all those who were present and witnessed it, with the footage they have that stands in contrast to what the DHS Secretary’s assessment is, then none of us are safe. We must care for Rene, as if we knew her, as a friend, a neighbor, or a family member, because if we don’t, and we do not meet this moment together apolitically, it emboldens a lot of people with weapons who are already undertrained and underqualified for their jobs to exert their dominance as they see fit, against anyone, anywhere, knowing no repercussions will come. The fact that DHS Secretary Noem can’t use the one bad apple narrative, that she can’t give up the one guy who went too far, is a chilling damnation for our future.
Will Trent: S4E1 (Disney Plus) with audio description- With that, I now oddly have to celebrate that after 3 seasons of decidedly mediocre audio description, ABC has replaced the team that was responsible. The decision to support quality audio description above nickel and diming profit should not go unnoticed. Not everyone working in the space of audio description is as concerned with making a quality finished product, although arguably like 98% are. It’s that 2% that doesn’t, that undercuts their competition, and gets work from people who are looking to pay less, that drive me crazy. So, I follow tragedy with celebration. I don’t know which company is making the new track, but the change is welcomed.
