A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms- I wonder how many people started this and turned it off in the first minute. The thing about starting off a series with your lead shitting his brains out against a tree, is that we will never forget that moment. its why you don’t know a single married couple, or anyone even dating who can answer the question “How did you two meet?” With “well, my sugar pie here was in the middle of some massive bowel movement.” Now you want me to like not just this character, but the show? Sure, if this is Monty Python’s Game Of Thrones, but it isn’t. the main character, Duncan the Tall, had a series of novellas, this has already been renewed fo a second season, and I’m underwhelmed. I’m not enthused, just thused. The actor portraying Duncan gives off Chris O’Dowd vibes. The young boy playing his squire, Egg, is perhaps the happiest kid ever for Game of Thrones, which often has kids who have been through and seen some shit. he has a backstory that is sad, but he’s pretty cheery. the AD was great though. it did make me wonder, like I did with The Pitt recently. Is it purely an audible experience for the audience, or are you watching the shit happen?
Squid Game: The Challenge- Friends and Family are forced to defeat each other in a sad game of marbles, swiftly dwindling the remaining population down to a manageable number of players.
the Chair Company- I thought I might do a full review, but watching the Chair company is an experience unto itself. it is so freaking weird, that when you get to the end, you realize you couldn’t have predicted this outcome. It’s like going to bed and waking up on Mars. Not only is it Mars, and you have questions, but you’re also pretty sure no one has been here before. The Chair Company does that, and then ends on a bizarre cliffhanger. I can’t imagine what people would do if this hadn’t gotten a second season. What a bold choice to make. Very very weird. Tim Robinson did more here than he did in Friendship.I love the AD, but I think the team knows that.
The Chosen Adventures- It’s a 14 minute episode about Jesus. And it has audio description, and Paul Walter Hauser. it makes it look like I watched more TV. Oh, the delight of these mini-shows. Yeah, I saw five shows today, never mind that one of them was 14 minutes long.
The rookie- I need you to know. The AD is fine. I love this show. Always have, and probably always will. But, what in the holy fuck is Baily doing with Interpol on a mission in the Czech Republic? Like, it is hard enough to imagine Nolan needing to be here, but Baily is a paramedic. Did she get some massive promotion during the off season? Did they just transfer her straight into the force, skipping the Academy? WHY IS BAILEY HERE? We’re gonna pretend this never happened. Whichever Rookie writer pitched that gem… please quit. the show was fine without you. Nice to see Garza again, by the way.
