TV Shows Watched: Fallout: S2E8 (Amazon) with audio description, Wonder Man: S1E5 (Disney Plus) with audio description,The Diplomat: S3E? (Netflix) with audio description, All her Fault: S1E4 (Peacock) with audio description, and memories Of a Killer: S1E1 (Disney Plus) no audio description
Fallout- Overall, a strong track from Pointe360. The finale in terms of content, no spoilers, really felt like it was trying more to set up a third season instead of a satisfying conclusion to the second. Even more unanswered questions. i think that works well for the show From, which relishes in never answering anything unless vital to the moment, but Fallout has Hank explain something in a way that just doesn’t make sense. Then, the emotional resonance from lucy is lost, due to a lack of understanding of her core dynamic, and her altruism winning at all costs. Overall, I think this was a strong season, fairly even with the first.
Wonder Man- Now that I’m admitting it, this is terrific, and the audio description is also really solid here as well. I’m anxious to see how it all resolves, and I still stand by the statement this is better than any Marvel show from last year (Spider-Man, Daredevil, IronHeart, Zombies, Wakanda). Of that bunch, Spider-Man might be my most favorite, as Daredevil and IronHeart had fleeting moments of greatness, mired by some sub par narrrative storytelling and inconsistencies (especially with Daredevil).
The Diplomat- Kate and Hal exchange a lot of banter as tensions rise. Not just because Hal knows she’s sleeping with someone, but because it looks like we might have blown up an Allies ship. Oh my!
All Her Fault- Watching this morally flexible cop, who is willing to do that “ends justify the means” way of looking at things, was excellent. We see him slowly being worn down, his struggle, and how a decision in the past to allow himself to become compromised makes a scene in the present easier, as it is part of a growing trend he’s not entirely comfortable with. The AD here is fine. It seemed to do a decent job of hitting the points, though, for example, at the end of the episode, he is searching a hotel room, and there’s an area free of grime, but it doesn’t say how large the area might e (size relativity), so it’s hard to know to anticipate what might have been there.
Memories Of A Killer- Don’t bother if it doesn’t have audio description. Unlike Best Medicine, which was just a travesty in and of itself, Patrick Dempsey’s show might have potential, but it is impossible to realize it without audio description. It was tremendously hard to follow, for a network drama, it was shockingly low on dialogue. Unwatchable in its form, unless it airs live with AD.
