Kid Rock pulled in 5.7 million last night from early estimates. That’s 5.7 million people I likely never need to meet or know. On the other hand, Bad Bunny’s halftime show reportedly broke the record, with over 135 million watching. Who’s the Real McCoy now Kid? More people watched the Puppy Bowl (13.2 million) than Kid Rock. Why did Kid Rock even headline? You might say, only God knows why. Turning Point According to a brief search, the most watched livestream on YouTube was some gamer hitting 8 million. So, we’re not setting the world on fire here guys. Read the room.

Percy Jackson- Sometimes, the kids have a hard time emoting dramatic material. The show is still fun, but I do notice every once in a while tht an actor reads a line having no idea how to land it. Clarice certainly had a line like that in this episode, where she picks up Percy and friends, and goes on the quest with them. The audio description is fine, if you don’t care that Season 1 ignored the intentionally diverse cast.
Pluribus- I love the mystery behind this show, as we see the man Carol called who hung up on her. We also see Carol selfishly take things to another extreme with the truth serum. While this show just made my best of 2025 list, I have to chastise the writers room clearly void of strong LGBTQ voices. While Carol is a lesbian, and we learn her parents sent her to a conversion therapy camp when she was a kid, which she describes as being full of smiling people like this, she allows a line to go unchecked. In this same conversation,Zosia, who is balancing Carol’s desire to not become one of them lays out the pros and cons, with the argument that Carol isn’t happy, and while Carol has been her, she’s also never tried being one of them. A better writer would have flipped that into her conversion therapy backstory, or at least tied it together with either a more serious line about how she heard that before and some things aren’t a choice, or by using her gruff personality to compare it to asking a lesbian if maybe they just haven’t had a good dick yet. Opening up this conversation by including that Carol had this very specific backstory, clearly inviting further discussion on her past and sexuality, and not looping it together with the most logical response her abrasive character would have had signals to me a room full of straight writers, or at bare minimum void of lesbians, all trying to approximate the experience. You’ve tried being you, why not try being us is a falsity often driven by one sides inherit belief that something is wrong, without the other person being taken into account. Zosia, and the hivemind attached, don’t really put carol’s own feelings into consideration, and they only see a problem that needs to be, no, must be fixed. Kinda like conversion therapy. It was perfectly set up, they just did nothing with it.
Star Search- Oh snap! We got ourselves a blind singer! You go girl. On the other hand, the other guy was better. She’s so low in her register, no one has really explained the timbre of her voice to her. I’ve also noticed it seems harder to stay on the show, as the judges look for an evolution of your work, meaning someone who wins early has to sustain the whole time waiting to get to the finale, where they could be usurped by someone brand new. Sure, you should enter Star Search with weeks worth of strong material, but being compared incessantly to your previous performances isn’t healthy either. Also, props to having a disabled comedian. He doesn’t feel quite as polished as the other guy. Often comedians work on building up a set, so they can be on stage longer. I’m guessing one of these guys has a solid half hour in them at least, while the other does not. Liz’s audio description was fine, except I still have no real concept of what the Diablo thing was. even as it was explained, I just couldn’t process the act. A guy with two sticks plays with an hourglass shaped thing. Fun.
Have I got News For You- Adam Schiff and Hasan Minaj made for solid guests. Schiff is really comfortable in this format. I’ve always been a fan of Minaj, and I wish he had a show again.
Landman- the most MAGA show on TV continues its stride forward, this time inserting a reference to The View, as a way of nodding to its target demo and assuring them they’ll be safe here. The problem with that is Thornton has expressed displeasure with Trump’s administration calling his Presidency “frustrating”. Demi Moore identifies as a Democrat, and publicly supported Harris. While Ali hasn’t specifically endorsed or not Trump, she is a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood and a woman’s right to choose. However, Garcia did publicly support Trump, Sam Elliot frequently leans Republican, and while Taylor Sheridan seems to tap into the MAGA pulse he also has railed against capitalism, the uber wealthy, and believes in climate change. He generally, like Larter, speaks on issues rather than candidates. It would be tough to guess where he lands. However, I do know there are no female writers in the room for Landman, which is why every female on the show is written like a mirror version of a woman from a porno. These are less like real women with independent thought, and more like women men want, sexually adventurous and ready at beck and call. I figure it’s only a matter of time before Moore’s character is gifted a love interest, and her character becomes just as tragic as Larter’s. these women can act, the show just doesn’t let them.
