Starfleet Academy- Still an awful show, which seems to be a misguided attempt to bring in young audiences, though I’m pretty sure it isn’t working. While the show landed 2.1 million viewers in its first eight days. By comparison, Landman’s Season 2 premiere pulled in 9.2 million in its first 48 hours. Tulsa King supposedly drew 21.1 million for its premiere (thanks Alexa?). Shifting Gears, Tim Allen’s ABC sitcom averages at least 3.5 million viewers. A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms drew 6.7 million in its debut. Even the poorly reviewed The Abandons drew 7.1 million. All’s Fiar drew 3.2 million in 3 days. It seems to be a losing battle.
Dawson’s Creek- I told y’all. I was gonna dive back in. What a trip. Hearing the theme song again, and watching series creator Kevin Williamson introduce so many plot points that played out. Dawson’s love of Spielberg is everywhere, Joey climbing in through the window, Jen coming to stay with her grandmother, Pacey seducing an older woman, and even Dawsons’ belief that his mom is cheating on his dad. I missed the gang from the Creek. It only felt dated when they spent forever in a video rental store, and no one can text anyone, which is so refreshing.
Will Trent- A dancer dies, Will taps into his Latino heritage, and tries to use some of the Spanish he’s been working on. Luckily, seems like basically everyone spoke English anyway, and they make fun of his accent. The AD is a huge improvement over last season.
Tomb Raider- We’re getting really supernatural this season, with special powers, healers, protectors, and Lara is likely way out of her depth. How will she defeat something that has the power to regenerate, when all Lara has the power to do is wear uncomfortably short shorts because the game was designed by dudes in the 90’s, who wanted a girl boss, but now take to the internet to whine about the girl bosses they created. The scene where Lara shoots the bad girl, and she regenerates, was well described.
Has Been Hotel- The backstory of Alistar. And, of course, there’s some singing. This show occasionally has its charms, and Alistar might be one of the more amusing characters.
