The Small Screen Diaries: 02/13/26

Happy Valentine’s Day to those of you who are all about love. For the rest of us, welcome to hell.

TV Shows Watched: The Traitors: S4E9 (Peacock) with audio description, Man Vs Baby: S1E3 (Netflix) with audio description, Ghosts: S5E? (Paramount Plus) with audio description, The Masked Singer: S14E6 (Disney Plus) no audio description, and A Man On The Inside: S2E9? (Netflix) with audio description

The Traitors: I guess making any predictions would inherently be a spoiler with this few contestants remaining. But, the episode has Eric make a choice, a challenge where the Traitors get to test the Faithful, and a heated rivalry at the roundtable. At the top, one contestant gets the axe (totally appropriate as the assumption must have been they’d be faithful), and someone is voted out. I think Rob has played an excellent game. not only do I think he will make the final four, I think he deserves to. Sorry, Faithful, but Rob has mastered this game. The AD continues to prove itself better than before, finding little ways of improving. When Eric is handed his cloak, it actually said green. I had no idea what the color of the cloak was. I assumed they all dressed in black, but green was so interesting. Love that. Thanks, peacock.

Man Vs Baby- This is a show that technically has some nice audio description, but does that annoying thing where if you would normally say “a door”, it says “door”, believing there isn’t enough time to fit in “A”. There is. I promise. We don’t need to lose the grasp of syntax simply to structure AD. If we start caving to little things, soon an AD company will pop up doing word association audio description, just saying descriptive adjectives, verbs, nouns, but with nothing connecting. “Tall man running dark fire red blood falling scream.” Exaggerated, but also, not impossible if we don’t ask for complete sentences.

Ghosts: Trevor’s daughter comes to work at the restaurant, and an election is held, where Flower becomes temporarily smart. Ghosts is my steady, reliable, always funny show. The AD isn’t bad either. the scene where Trevor is trying to move the water bottle was done well.

The Masked Singer: When I heard that voice, I was like… that’s not a professional singer. Not outside of rap or death metal anyway. When that voice turned out to be who it was, i was aghast. What happened to your voice? Why would you do that to yourself? He tried throwing his voice so people wouldn’t notice him.

A Man On The Inside- If it turns out to be Mary Steenburgen, I’ll be very sad. Netflix just renewed the show for a third season. Fingers crossed. Also, congrats to all the fans who just found out this show got renewed. We did it!

Say Something!
